Reflections on the Gulf #807 north building
As a former beach rental owner on IRB for 13 years I’m aware of the rental challenges. I’m also not one to write reviews but this 3 week vacation requires one.
1. The ELEVATOR, there are two, one has been shut down for 4 yrs. We have rented for 3 weeks every summer for 4 yrs. The other elevator has had problems every year and each time we are told they are going to be fixed so we return. For three weeks this past June my family and I climbed 8 flights of stairs minimum once a day, sometimes twice and sometimes just stayed in. At 65 and 74 this was not our idea of relaxation especially with grandchildren, beach equipment, groceries or luggage. The thought of a medical emergency was deeply concerning. It was a nightmare and based upon 4 yrs of promises I’d be very skeptical that it would be completely fixed anytime soon. Twice we saw people coming out of the elevator after being rescued from being stuck inside. The last few days there you could only go down to 2nd floor and then walk, this made loading up to leave awful.
2. CONSTRUCTION, loud and messy daily, and the scaffolding was right next to our balcony, the noise and construction dust went on all day. The workers were once very inappropriately disrespectful to my 14 yr old niece, who after that wouldn’t walk to the pool or beach alone. We were not told of this scheduled construction when we rented or anytime before we arrived.
3. CONDO. The a/c is not adjustable it stays on 74 degrees. There are also only two keys given. You will need one to get in main door, beach gate and pool gate. It gets irritating if there are more than 2 people.
During all this my daughter and I communicated with the landlord, but there was never a clear answer or resolution.
This trip put me in a knee brace and left a very bad impression on all of us.
