House was very accommodating, lots of space for our family. We loved the heated pool, screened porches, location near the beach and beautiful view. House was neat and tidy, cleaning crew may need to do a more detailed deep clean, but overall our experience was great!

House was dated, not clean, broken furniture and umbrellas in the pool area, hot water didnt work in 2 of the 3 bathrooms. The host was responsive and respectful, but there were so many things wrong and gross that I was honestly looking to get some reimbursement for the trip. My friends even left early because of the state of the house because they had a small child. Disappointed with the experience. The island and location is amazing. The house itself, not planning to stay here again unless I have to.
Clear dust/mold around the appliance room in the kitchen. Obviously not cleaned for quite some time.
More dead insects or potentially droppings of some sort. Didn't get close enough to sort it out

Perfect Summer Getaway

First can I say elevator!? It made getting everything inside and to it proper place so much faster. The layout is perfect and everything seems to be just where it should. A home away from home. The beach was beautiful and the pool was refreshing. Definitely “My Happy Place”

Beautiful home and such a nice and beautiful location. My family had fun. Had some issues with the cleanliness of the home (dirty floors, bathrooms, etc.) and also issues with the pool. The host, however, responds very quickly and sent someone out to check the pool. He would have sent someone to clean, however, at the time I didn’t realize that a cleaner would be willing to come back out. The host was willing to try to fix the situation each time.

My Happy Place Review

House was spacious and well stocked. We found that several kitchen items had been put up dirty. When we turned the heat on, there was black matter that was blown out of all air vents on every level. We had a great time and enjoyed the heated pool. Thank you for sharing your rental home with us. We live St. George Island.

Memories Made

We had such an amazing stay! Just a short walk to the beach- we walked to see the sunrise and hunt shells each day- loved the large table for a light breakfast and then headed back to enjoy the waves and sun. The pool was a nice incentive to get the kids back to the house and then we were able to do some relaxing afternoons before going out to eat at the awesome restaurants in the area! The house screams history and the owner is doing a great job of tastefully updating it and keeping the character of the house! Thank you for this opportunity to share in your happy place!!!

Unclean House

This property was very poorly maintained. Upon arrival, the floors in the main living area and the kitchen were so disgusting that I steam mopped them for over an hour. There is mold inside the elevator and in all the bathrooms. My family was very disappointed by the cleanliness of this property. It’s clear that it was, at once, a very beautiful place, but it need attention immediately. The baseboards were covered in filth, the entire interior needs a professional deep cleaning before anyone is allowed to rent this place. So disappointing for the amount of money spent.

Mold, No Air Conditioning, Filth

This house is stunning to look at from the outside and is in a great location. The pool was nice and very private. On the inside: over half of the blinds are broken; mold is visible behind the walls from the elevator shaft and in one of the bedroom closets; all bedding was either yellowed, blood stained, or had cigarette burns; 4 dirty coffee pots to choose from and two were non-working; the floors were FILTHY; railing around top deck has broken and loose rungs; air conditioner on the top level where the livingroom, kitchen, and one bedroom are did not work for 4 of the 7 days we stayed; boogers were smeared on the wall beside the bed in the upper level bedroom; greasy hand prints lined the stairwells; light in the elevator was not attached and dangling down; the front door took extreme force to open - almost impossible for the kids, our wheelchair bound family member, and the mothers holding their infants to open; refrigertor beeped every minute even when the filter reset button was pushed; trash was strewn around the outside and broken items left by prior tenants remained in the covered parking area. There is so much more to list. I have been coming to St. George Island for 20 years and have stayed at a different house each year. This one was by far the worst.

My Happy Place is exactly that! It is such a beautiful home with all the amenities.This was our 2nd year to come to the island and as our family continues to grow, We needed more space this year, We had 8 adults and 2 infants and there was plenty of room for all to spread out. It was a great location as well. We love SGI!

Lovely house in perfect location.

Most important to me in a rental are comfortable beds, bedding and pillows. My Happy Place provided all three (except for 4th bedroom with child size beds with droopy mattresses which fortunately we didn’t need). Lots of bath towels. Plenty of hot water. Kitchen had everything we needed but could use more kitchen towels (we brought our own after annother reviewer mentioned this). Our host was available by text and responded quickly to all questions and concerns. A short walk to the beach was a bonus. The pool was clean and refreshing. I would suggest some of the window blinds need to be replaced especially the one on master bedroom porch door. We would definitely rent My Happy Place again.

Sister's Trip

We enjoyed our stay at my happy place. The location is perfect directly across the beach short little walk. The views from the front porch are amazing. We did have a couple of hiccups but the owner was very responsive and sent someone out immediately to take care of them and they were small things. Everything is provided in the kitchen for cooking. The beds were comfortable. We did run out of toilet paper and had to make a run to the store unexpectedly but that's minor compared to the great time that we had in this beautiful home. It was the perfect getaway for my sisters and I.

Happy Place

House was wonderful the elevator was a little hard to work sometimes but the property manger helped us to understand how to work it since you had to manual flip a button . Other than that the house was very spacious . The beach there was never crowered.

Great location, house a little outdated

We stayed here for a week with 5 adults, 2 dogs, and 5 children, 0-5 years old. The location is amazing, only a short walk to public beach access that was never crowded. Pool was nice and private and we were overall comfortable during our stay, but will probably not stay here again. We appreciated that there is a baby gate installed at the top of the stairs on the top level (living room/kitchen) and the elevator is basically impossible for the kids to access on their own, so that was not a safety concern. The house was a little dirty (floors turned our feet black from day one), a bit outdated, and lacking some items (no oven mitts?!, bare minimum of shower/hand/dish towels). We had a few issues during our stay and the property manager was super responsive and had everything resolved very quickly. For example, the dishwasher was all but falling out of the cabinet and he had someone over the next day to repair. The battery to the door lock died and we were all locked out (with a 6 month old during the hottest part of the day), and he replied within 2 minutes and had someone over to the house truly in under 10 minutes. We also noticed there was sewage coming out the back of the house, and the pest control guy even commented on it when he came by (unannounced, which we did not love and didn't have him spray inside because we had babies sleeping and our dogs in the house). All in all, for the price and location -- and being pet-friendly -- this place was fine.
