Two days before we were supposed to check in, I was informed that the house we had rented (for a very elevated price) was under renovation, and would not be ready for us. The good news was that there was another house available – higher end, in the Plantation, much more space. Its renovation also was just being completed, and we would be the first people to occupy it.
When we arrived, the guard at the gate did not have our names. No problem, they let us in anyway. But it took two days for our names to be added to the list.
The house, indeed, was spectacular. So open and bright! Nearly Everything brand new. The property manager told us they had literally been finishing things up as we drove in, so she knew there would be some things missing or not working quite right. For instance, the new icemaker was not functional at all. They left us a cooler full of ice, which they replenished for several days until they could supply countertop icemakers for us. The propane tank for the grill showed up a couple of days After we arrived.
We had no WiFi. The TVs weren’t set up to use. There was a lot of construction detritus around-nails and screws, dust, plaster chips, styrofoam pieces were everywhere, including in the pool and continuously blowing into the pool. The outdoor shower didn’t work for several days, and when they did get it running it was only cold water, and no hook to keep the door closed. The garbage disposal backed up and the pressure blew the pipes apart, spewing water and spinach all over under the sink and the kitchen floor. The lights in the fans on one side of the house all seemed to be on the same frequency for their remote controls this meant that when someone turned their bedroom light or fan off or on it turned the other rooms lights and fans off or on. This was a little bit disconcerting in the late hours of the night. The lights in a couple of the bathrooms flickered, as did any lights that had dimmers on them. The curtains on the front sliding glass doors were not great… Not very attractive, seemed rather “cheap“, and were difficult to open and close. The screens on those doors obviously had not been replaced. There were lots of holes and tears in them, and they were difficult to slide, making lots of noise. We bought our own broom and dust pan.
On The plus side, The property manager and her team were outstanding and very responsive to all our needs, tho they could not resolve them all.
