Adorable raised cabin with a view of the river. The cabin was clean, well equipped and comfortable. The host left coffee, juice, eggs and baked goods, along with bottled water. The queen bed was comfortable. The neighborhood is a bit remote but very quiet and peaceful. There are stairs to enter the cabin.

Pre-Honeymoon Getaway !

We wanted a couple nights to ourselves after our wedding. Something close and not just a hotel suite. This did not disappoint ! It was a wonderful calm and relaxing stay after all the preparation for the wedding !

This cottage is a perfect place to rest and recharge. It is stocked with games and DVD's for fun and just a short drive to St Charles, St Louis or Alton, where you can drive the Great River Road. We can't wait until we are able to return!

Cozy Winter Getaway

I enjoyed my little solo trip to this adorable cabin in January! The bathtub was luxurious, the views of bald eagles hovering over the Mississippi River was very neat, and enjoying the heated fireplace with some homemade treats rounded out a very relaxing weekend. The owners were also very quick to communicate and friendly when any questions came about. I already plan to come back for a girls weekend in the spring or fall!

Amazing

Lots of really nice little touches! Homemade jams, scones, biscuits plus a nice breakfast for us was provided in the fridge. All the basic kitchen necessities were perfect. We loved the cute little flower bowls. The view was great, the deck was awesome, firepit was well enjoyed. Even TV options & internet were nice to have. Quiet neigbors, saw some resident bald eagles flying around the nearby homes & river. Super peaceful & a perfect getway.

Another great stay

This is our second stay at this riverfront property. We just love it! It feels like a home away from home. There is plenty to do in the St Charles area but this time we mostly stayed cozy by the river, relaxing and reading. The special touches provided by the hosts are spectacular. Highly recommend.

Peaceful

This tranquil cottage was perfect for our needs. We drank our coffee while watching the river float by with all the animals dancing around. Very comfortable atmosphere with everything we needed for a peaceful, relaxing weekend. Close enough to restaurants and entertainment but far enough away to feel you are in the middle of nowhere. Will return.

Bizarre and wild place

Came there to spent 5 days while working on assignment in nearby St.Louis small town. Amazing place - houses on stilts, wild animals noises during the night, unpaved road. Like being in a different part of the world! Refreshing and very different from your regular rentals. Very enjoyable and memorable. Great hosts and superb cleanliness of the property. It will be a grand memory! Thank you.

a quiet get away

I just wanted to get away from my everyday life for a few days. This listing looked wonderful and it happened to be close to my home. It was all that I needed for the couple of days I could get away. I will return again, if I can.

Amazing experience!!

Jeannie and Jack should write “The Book” on vacation rentals. Every aspect of the stay was well thought out. The bed ad seating were comfortable and our host provided homemade goodies galore! We enjoyed the fire pit and the friendly neighbors invited us to a party. We will be back!!!

I can’t express enough how charming and romantic this cottage is . You feel just cut off enough from the outside world , yet you are less than 15 mins from everything ! The hosts are absolutely wonderful to work with . They go above and beyond to give you the best experience. The homemade breakfast items were the perfect touch to this cottage . You won’t be disappointed!!

Our Attempt At The Best Review Ever

There's no way to express just how grateful we are for the River Rest Cottage. The location is just sublime & the cottage is so cozy! Surrounded by trees with an unobstructed view of the Mississippi, we spent the mornings and evenings on the deck relaxing, admiring the scenery, and soaking up the peace & quiet. The integration of a few pieces original to the 1940's home gave the cottage such a charm about it. Jeannie was such an amazing host. She truly thought of everything & gave us the best rental experience we've ever had. We definitely plan to stay here again!
