"Room spotless, owner friendly"

"Everything about this I would rate as 5* - except the bed. The bed had a slope (informed to proprietor but no reply yet) which meant for 3 nights I had poor sleep, fighting the slope. As the #1 thing to get right for any stay is the bed, this seriously affected this review and I was even mulling leaving a 2* rating because of that. However, I decided against it as I hope the proprietor will as a result of this review *replace the mattress* for the benefit of others."

"Room is very basic. Breakfast is basic. Nice chef though, came specially to apologise for the limited options. In general the B&B is overrated extremely overpriced. Not happy at all that I booked it"

"Returning to this historic hotel for a third visit was just as enjoyable as ever. Although my room was smaller this time, it was still beautifully maintained and very comfortable. I was especially grateful to be allowed an early check-in at no extra cost, which made my trip even more relaxing. The food remains outstanding, and the staff continue to provide a genuinely warm, friendly, and helpful service throughout. I was in Whitehaven for an event over the early May bank holiday weekend, but...

"We were sitting on the bench outside of our room and the lady who worked in the ticket collection place, driving a blue svu, almost parked her car on top of our laps. The staff should be more considerate."
