We were very excited for our stay at this property, as the photos look great, and because it’s in an amazing location. This property has the potential to be great, though it’s just not what we experienced. There were many things in need of repair, such as cracks in the plaster above the twin beds in the upstairs bedroom that were so large we were afraid to sleep under them for fear of the ceiling collapsing in the middle of the night, the upstairs smelled like mold/mildew and set off my allergies. The bathrooms were not very clean, and there was dirty lingerie in one of the drawers in the downstairs bedroom. But the absolute worst thing, and most dangerous, was the lack of heat in the primary bedroom downstairs. This bedroom is surrounded by windows, and we didn’t know that the heat in the rest of the house did not filter into this room. I placed my elderly mother in it, not knowing, and the temperatures dipped the first night into the low 40s. The next morning my mother said she had the most miserable night of her life, too cold to move or use the restroom, or even leave the room for warmth. She developed a runny nose and cough the next day as a result. There was an odd old gas heater attached to the wall, but no way to turn it on and not connected to a gas source. I reached out to the owner and property manager about this but didn’t get a reply for another day or so. We made the decision to vacate the property the following morning and go stay at a nearby hotel. We reached out to the owner and property manager the following day and were met with rudeness and were hung up on. We are currently in dispute regarding a refund. This was a very unfortunate situation, where, it’s a beautiful home in a lovely location, but it has not been kept up well and this has created a potentially dangerous situation for those staying in the home.
