The place has a great location, pretty near to the Acadia National Park as well as Bar harbor and bass harbor lighthouse! The hotel has a nice and spacious dining hall that leads to a garden which then leads to pier. Nice place to spend an evening after a day at Acadia National Park! Hotel staff is wonderful and they go miles to help you out and make your stay pleasant. Manager was very helpful to lend us some books on Acadia which helped a lot to plan our visit.Will definitely come back here !

Cute
A charming little inn. Plenty to do in without ever leaving. You get to know the other people staying there. Dinner was a fancier attire, but the food was delicious. We had to leave early in the morning so we missed the breakfast.

Beautiful facility with old charm. Spacious facility and grounds with a beautiful dining room. A few common areas in the hotel are quite comfortable and offer a fireplace , jigsaw puzzle and just a place to sit and relax. Back porch overlooks beautiful view of the water. Facility has rowboats to loan as well as a couple of bicycles. Can't wait to go back!

There were 5 of us — the room for 3 had a beautiful water view. The hotel exceeded our expectations— loved the fire in the fireplace, dinner & breakfast were delicious, & staff friendly & helpful. We would like to return in warmer weather to enjoy croquet & boat rides. Cozy wonderful stay !

The property is beautiful in an antique kind of way. The green well manicured lawn, the blue water, the well placed chairss, are all so inviting for peace and relaxation The delicious breakfast was served in the beautiful dining room with an exquisite view of the water and lawns, But the bedrooms are too outdated to be comfortable. My room #121 could accommodate neither desk nor a pair of chairs. And come on, we do like a room TV also.

Very relaxed and "unstuffy" atmosphere. It was easy to just relax and blend in. The lawn, porches and dock were well cared for and pleasant to spend time looking at the view and relaxing.

We loved this place. We stayed in one of the houses right by the water and our back door opened up into a porch with a gorgeous view of the ocean. Can’t beat that. The place itself is obviously historic, not modern. But it was so nice and cozy to stay in. There is a common room with a fire place, books and puzzles. There was no tv in our room so we took advantage of those activities to entertain ourselves in the evenings in front of the fireplace. Free breakfast every morning. Very quiet peaceful location. Would definitely come back and stay there longer than three nights next time.

Lovely old hotel on beautiful waterfront property. Moored boats all around, nice walkway and dock. Nice hanging baskets on the porches, manicured lawns and croquet courts. Hard tru tennis court. Homey, charming and classy interior. They need to do some training with their wait staff. This is a people industry, so you would expect a smile, some friendliness and comprehension of English. Very disappointed with the breakfast wait staff. However, breakfast itself was quite tasty.

Our room was on the top floor with a lovely view but the bed was propped up on blocks, and the ceiling was water stained. The bathroom also needed to be refurbished.

Like Kellerman's from the movie
Hotel since 1884, so a little old school charm. Nice quiet neighborhood on the shore. Had dinner out over the water. Delicious breakfast in the beautiful dinning room overlooking the water. The croquet courts were the greatest!

The hotel is very beautiful and comfortable and the location is mind blowing with breathtaking views of Somes Sound from the lounge and dining room. The hotel staff were very professional and friendly. One of the most remarkable aspect was their excellent complimentary breakfast in a breathtakingly beautiful setting.

Dear Beth, Your right about the views, sometimes when I am crossing the property looking out is just amazing to see the water change colors with the sunrise or sunset. And Southwest Harbor is a wonderful place to stay and relax and enjoy the best Maine has to offer. Thanks again.

One of the most amazing grand old inns we have ever stayed in! Wonderful verandas with amazing views, grandiose common areas, a made to order complimentary breakfast, a spacious and beautiful room....superb!!!

The location of the property was a bit isolated, but nice for solitude. The brreakfasts were very nice. One of our 4 days the bed was never made up. Our biggest issue was that our room had a banging noise coming from ductwork overhead that was very annoying. Don't take room 109.
