Great home base for skiing at Wolf Creek
We had three families with a total of 12 people stay here and there was lots of extra room. We played games and cooked dinner each evening in the dinner/living room. Pool and foosball tables were fun additions that are downstairs. On top of this, we got lucky with a lot of snow to play in. South Fork is a relatively easy drive up to Wolf Creek each day.

Totally recommend!
We celebrated my parents 50th wedding anniversary at the lodge and my sister stayed in the smaller cabin just a short walk between the trees. We had 23 people between both cabins and had plenty of room. The house is also right along the river with amazing views. The kitchen was large enough to cook for all of us as well. The property managers were helpful and answered our questions in a timely manner. We will be back for sure!

Great family ski vacation
Our group of 15 (ages 2 months to adult) stayed at Rio River Retreat for a ski vacation. Melissa and Dan were great hosts and always quick to respond. The place suited us well with a bedroom for each of our kids’ families. We will definitely keep it in mind the next time we stay in South Fork.

Winter Famiky Vacation at Rio River Retreat
The Rio River Retreat was perfect cabin for our group of 18 for our annual ski trip. The family/game room was perfect for evening family fun and a good hangout space for some that wanted to stay up a bit later than others. The kitchen, living room and dining room were open concept which allowed for us all to be together during meal prep, cooking and dining time! The kitchen had a huge island and double convection ovens which were awesome for meal prep and serving! Melissa has the kitchen stocked so well with appliances, dishes and almost anything you would need. The view out the back of the river and out the front big windows of the mountain were stunning. Since it was winter we did not get to enjoy the beautiful deck and yard space but we guess it is a favorite spot in all the other seasons. This cabin is ina great location in south fork which is close to Wolf Creek. We loved our stay and hope to return again!

Ski trip stay
House and location was everything we were looking for. Very spacious, plenty of room for guest and hanging out. Was perfect for our large group on ski trip and have zero complaints. House was beautiful in a great town with everything need in south fork colorado.

Excellent vacation home and perfect location
Thank you Dan and Melissa for sharing your lovely home with us. I highly recommend this rental. We booked our stay for a ski trip/winter getaway for family and a few friends. The house is large and spacious and provided plenty of room for everyone. The 3 levels were perfect for giving multiple generations their privacy and space, and we could easily meet up for meals and visiting in the large living/dining room or for games in the basement. The house had everything we needed and Dan and Melissa were close by and available to help. Not only is the house perfect, but the location and view is spectacular. The home is right on the river and the view is gorgeous in all directions. We will definitely return to this beautiful home in South Fork.

Family Trip to South Fork
We had 9 adults and 5 kids in our group. The house was exactly what we’d hoped. It was large, plenty of beds, very well equipped kitchen, plenty of towels, clean throughout. We will definitely be back!

Great rental for a large group!
The owners were very nice and communicated well - they had lots of recommendations for the area so that was helpful. We would’ve liked for all the beds to be made though and appliances to be updated. Oven is old and over cooked some food, one of the burners on island didn’t work, sink in the kitchen and tub in upstairs bathroom would both hold water and not drain well. Other than those things, it was a great stay!

Pictures don't do it justice!
This is a beautiful cabin located on the Rio Grande. We drove a short drive to Wolf Creek and enjoyed 20"+ of fresh powder. Each evening on our ski trip we were able to cook for our group and relax (in my case, recuperate) while preparing for the next day. All the beds were comfortable and the kitchen was equipped with what we needed. Dan and Melissa were great hosts and Dan plowed the driveway each morning the snow was falling. We would definitely stay here again!

Family Reunion
This property was amazing. It fit all of our needs. We had 21 people and it was perfect. The house had plenty of room for all of the kids to play inside and out. The property managers where very helpful and kind. It truly was a perfect property and I would definitely book again. I will recommend this property to all of our friends. Great for groups
We went over Spring Break to ski at Wolf Creek. Unfortunately the ski resorts were closed because of COVID 19. But the house has a pool table, games a couple of TVs and plenty of room for everyone to spread out. So we enjoyed hanging out and spending time together as a family. It was also nice weather and we were able to hike every day. How lucky we were to have a great place like this to go to and get away from the craziness of the world. And the owners were extremely helpful and responsive to questions.

5/5 would recommend!
Brought the family to this lovely cabin for a short vacation. The house is amazing fun for the young and old. The kitchen was great and had everything we needed to cook big meals. The game room was so fun! The location is absolutely gorgeous and close to a variety of outdoor activities. Also there are plenty of beds so everyone can sleep comfortably. Loved everything about our stay here.

Family Get together
We arrived on Saturday afternoon and we were very pleased with the house. It had ample sleeping, eating and relaxing furniture. The children really enjoyed the play room. We played several of the games. Several tried fishing in the River that went by the house. We have many good memories. The owners were very helpful and quickly answered all of our questions. Great place.

Fantastic Stay!

Hot water
The only complaint our group of 20 had was the lack of hot water. We all were riding UTV’s and getting very dusty and with only one hot water heater half the group had to either take cold showers or wait a couple of hours for warm water. Told the owners and they seemed like they were going to address the issue. Very nice owners!!

Amazing Vacation Property
We have nothing but great things to say about this property, and the owners. Our group of 5 adults, and 5 kids (ages 6-12) had a wonderful stay. The home was clean, and spacious. The location was at the edge of town, but within easy access to restaurants, groceries, and shops. The home is large enough, that the kids could play in the game room, while the adults enjoyed the peace and quiet upstairs, or on the deck. The home is mere feet from the river, and in a beautiful location. We would not hesitate to book this home for future trips.

Family reunion
We had a great time staying at the Rio River retreat. We had anywhere from 22 people to 8 people spending the night as some came for just a day or two. There was plenty of room for everyone. Amazing view from the deck. The fish cleaning station they have outside was put to good use. Furniture on the deck and toys for the kids to play with. Had a fire pit the kids loved the smores. If I return to this area with a group of people again I hope this property will be available would love to stay there again.

Graduation weekend..
Our stay @ the Rio River Retreat was absolutely amazing! The house had everything we needed for our large party. The views were spectacular & the kids loved being right by the river. The basement was a huge hit with all the games and kept everyone busy. The owner was always available when we had a question and made sure we had everything we needed. We are looking forward to staying there again during the Winter season.

Great place, great hosts
Rio River Retreat was the perfect place for our group. Had 13 guys and float fished the Rio Grande every day. Tons of parking for rigs and trailered boats, even pulled rafts out on the lawn in front of the house a few times. Super comfortable beds and plenty of space in the cabin. Dan and Melissa are great hosts. Very communicative and available to answer we had. Will definitely rent the place again in the future.

Beautiful log home
This home was beautiful. The location was perfect. You can see the river from most windows. The living room sofas were very comfortable. Every bed in the home was soft and had memory foam toppers. That being said we did have a few things that as a group thought could be addressed. The toilets filled very slow (5 min, we timed it), mildew in showers (maybe check you cleaning crew), brown water from filter being replaced (could have been done when no one was in home), only one towel per person (bring your own), kitchen sink needs replacing( it is stained so bad I did not even want to wash dishes in it), the drawers need to be cleaned out (filth in the silverware), very limited cooking pans and pots ( old and need to be replaced), cabinets need to be scrubbed ( greasy and sticky), refrigerator door does not open all the way (very small fridge for so many people and you can’t access all drawers, needs a newer maybe side by side), electric ignition on stove top trips breaker (obviously a problem) owners in and out during our stay and wearing their shoes ( we as a group choose not to wear shoes in house due to the mud outside and to respect the home) WiFi inconsistent, and there were no pool sticks for pool table ( owner told us they would bring new sticks on first day of stay and even though they were in and out all week did not get sticks until last day of visit. Please not there is no useable fireplace, the owners will not allow you to use it( assuming there was a fire place from the pictures was one of the reason we stayed at this home). And on a funny note if you want to use the half bath you need to be very thin or stand on the toilet to get out of the half bath (door opens in and takes up the entire space, have to see to believe). All that being said we had plenty of beds and pillows , dining room table fit us all , and plenty of seats. The interior log walls and stairs were amazing, we loved waking up every day to the view.

We do take all suggestions into account for how we can make the little things better. Sorry if you felt like we were in and out all week, when the only time we saw you was when we changed the filter and brought the pool sticks. The only other time we were there was to move the trashcan closer to the house for your convenience. We do not make a habit of intruding on our guests. We have already began the deep spring cleaning process, as suggested, as we were blessed with a very busy winter with many groups enjoying their time in the mountains. Everything was a good as advertised
There was plenty of room for all of us during our stay. This was important since there were 16 of us. We had a winter storm that knocked out power for two days. Even without power the house stayed warm. There was gas heaters in the basement and on the main floor just for such an emergency. Our host checked on us regularly during the outage just to make sure we had everything we needed and kept us informed as to when to expect power to return. They did an excellent job at keeping the driveway plowed which was needed since we received over 60 inches of snow ion three days. Our host make sure that an extra trash pickup was scheduled since there were 16 of us. A very nice touch. If you are planning on visiting in the winter I strongly suggest 4W drive, not just for this property, but for getting to the ski resort. My only regret is that I wished I had brought my fishing pole during this Ski vacation. We will definitely stay here again.

Excellent house for large groups!
Such a hospitable space! There was plenty of room for our group of 18. Its a beautiful location and was an easy drive up to Wolf Creek Ski resort for our group. A truly beautiful location. One morning we woke up to a bald eagle on one of the trees along the river bank, right outside the kitchen window! We also really liked how well stocked the kitchen was and the access to two ovens!

Excellent time in South Fork
Getting all of the family together into one house is not easy but your property made it possible. It provided an amazing back drop for Thanksgiving. We were able to play our T-Day Ultimate frisbee and touch football in the front yard instead of going to a park. Since the snow was not good at Wolfcreek we ended up spending time mountain biking instead. There are great trails near there. The house was super comfortable and large, we especially appreciated the large living room area. It was great for family games. I would highly recommend it. Overall it was an excellent experience and we loved the area. Things that could make the stay better in my opinion would be to have the TV, or maybe a TV, downstairs; the downstairs shower head was not working properly which limited us to just the two showers for all 20 of us; move the checkout back, 10am is way to early, make it noon.

I am so glad your family enjoyed Rio River Retreat during Thanksgiving! What a wonderful way to make some family memories! Thank you for your suggestions on how we can make it better-- we will be adding a tv in the basement in January. Sorry to hear the shower head wasn't working- we will definitely get it replaced! As far as needing a late checkout, that would have absolutely been ok, as another group was not scheduled to arrive that day. Great family time!
The cabin was perfect for our large family to have some space to spread out and have some privacy, yet come together with ample room. The location was very convenient, the home was well maintained, and the setting was perfect. We all enjoyed our stay!

Great property.
Enjoyed sitting on the porch in the mornings and watching the sunrise. It was gorgeous. The later afternoons and evenings on the porch we enjoyed the cool breezes of Colorado. There were at one point 15 of us at the house and there was plenty of space. Will visit again.

Relaxation on the Rio Grande while adding to the family.
This log cabin home was an amazing place to stay. We stayed here for a week at the end of May early June. We rented the house in order to attend our son's wedding which took place in the mountains. We deliberated on renting this house for awhile and then decided to try it in order to house our immediate family and then host the rehearsal dinner and reception. This property worked out perfectly for these activities and everyone who attended loved the home and the grounds. The kitchen and dining area worked out perfectly for our family as my wife loves to cook. This property is conveniently located near the highway, but seems to be off the beaten path. The deck is large and has great views of the mountains and the river behind the house. We enjoyed sitting out and watching the fishermen float by while fly fishing. Quick access to driving trails and outdoor activities. We wish we could have stayed a week longer at this home. Looking forward to a return trip.
