Very clean room and bathrooms. Host promptly responded to a small issue that came up before my visit and fixed it quickly. Only stayed one night for the Notre Dame game and left early the next morning so did not get a good chance to explore the area but it looked promising. Satisfied with my experience!

Never met any staff and too dependent on text messages to reach someone. I would have liked to have a TV. It's a wonderful home and I enjoyed being in the historic area. It was a lovely experience.

We were coming to visit my brother and family in South Bend, and we thought to try out a new venue rather than simply a hotel. We're very glad we did. This house is beautiful, literally an art gallery and a living gem. In spite of some miscommunication between Hotels.com and the property (didn't get an email for the code to unlock the door due to a break in communication between Hotels.com and the property) we got in contact very quickly with the property manager and were delighted with the interior of the house. We wish we had more time to simply sit and take in the entire place. Our room was clean and well-maintained. If you love older houses in South Bend, you will not be disappointed here at Art and Lodging. It was also very quiet, a nice place to relax and enjoy the ambience.

I only was there for about 7hrs, as I drove in from the Ann Arbor area for an early morning tournament. The price was right. Just enough space for me. And it was a beautifully decorated historic home. Plus it was convenient to the Century Center.

Short stay

Beautiful home, easy self-check in, spacious room (thankfully blue room had private bath as I didn't even think that this might not be an option. Lol), well equipped kitchen if needed, and everything appeared to be well cleaned and taken care of. Will gladly stay here again.

I never received correspondence telling me how to gain access to the property (code to unlock the front door), where to find towels or how to navigate the television remote controls. I was lucky enough to run into another guest, who told me to check my spam folder for a message containing these and other details. Alas, no message was received. I did get a text with a screen shot containing the access code, but nothing else of value. I did, however, receive the news that the water heater was not working. The offer to allow me to cancel without charge was not comforting, considering it got to my phone as I arrived at the property. All of which made the fact that I could not lock the door to my room not surprising at all. So, except for the absence of a code to enter the property, the inability to lock my room, the lack of warm water and no idea how to use the tv, everything was fine.

This property is beautiful!! Well maintained and a good location. The property managers are great too. My major problem: The yellow room had these orange/red curtains. As soon as the sun came up. The whole room was brighter than the sun because of the hue from the curtains letting the light come in. Big problem: Zero hot water. I only put my head under the shower head because the hot water was completely gone. It was the coldest shower of my life. Problem: Some dude did dishes for like 40 minutes in the morning at like 830am with no regard for anyone in the house who was sleeping. He was extremely loud! The house was beautiful and in a great location, but all i wanted was sleep. I arrived late from the casino and just wanted a good night's rest. I maybe got like 3 hours sleep at most. I was praying for a hot shower to wake up. No luck there. It was a long day after all that. --The bed was very hard as well. Would've been a 10/10 if not for these things.

hospitality in the midst of classic beauty

Finding Art and Lodging was a bonus to a get-away stay in South Bend. A beautifully restored home, this space also is located in a neighborhood within walking distance of the Oliver Mansion, the IU Civil Rights heritage center and some fine restaurants. A small place (only 8 guests at a time), this home has been meticulously up-dated, is clean, with a comfortable bed and a room heater which was just right on a cool evening. Our room had a half bath attached, with a full bathroom just down the hall. Our only concern was running out of warm water in the shower after a fairly short shower. Available snacks, a shared kitchen (well-equipped) and an easy-to-manage entry, along with a helpful text with parking, entrance and hospitality details made this simple to enjoy! Beautiful art throughout the home added a visual bonus; I'd love to take the stained glass lamp shades home to my home.
