Town of Grohote is situated on the border of Šoltansko polje, on the crossing of the road that connect Šolta’s two most distant towns, Stomorska and Maslinica, and the road that leads to Rogač port. The oldest and largest town on the island has always been, and still is, economic and administrative centre of the island, although its inhabitants have traditionally always been farmers, fishermen or have worked with lime.
In Grogote you have two big supermarkets, bakery, fish market, butcher's shop, open market, post office, pharmacy and newspaper shop. There are also ATM-s in Grohote and exchange office.
