Perfection!
Serene Lakes is one of our favorites places to visit on the planet as it holds many special memories for us. Cary and Michael's "Lodge" is just as described - beautifully decorated, super comfortable and well-equipped for living and enjoying, and within walking distance to Royal Gorge Cross Country Ski Area. Their main living area deck is THE best - easily accessible, covered and sheltered from the weather, toddler friendly (!), and peaceful...the fireplace table and the two industrial patio heaters + blankets (!) make it a dreamy place to hang out. and most importantly, Cary and Michael are very responsive and friendly if questions arise! Fully recommend!

Lovely Winter Wonderland
Our family of 8 loved this cozy home in the mountains. During our stay the area got 24 inches of snow and we still found plenty of opportunity to play outside, lounge around the fire and even made s'mores around the outdoor firepit. The home had everything and more (including the holiday decorations!!). We are definitely planning a return trip.

Winter Serene Lakes Visit
The Lodge is impeccable. Very clean and well-appointed. We especially enjoyed the outdoor seating and fireplace. Hosts were highly communicative and caring. Top notch!

Peaceful retreat
We enjoyed our stay in this beautiful area. The neighborhood is so quiet and peaceful. The home is clean, comfortable and the perfect escape from day to day life. There were nearby trails we took advantage of and the lakes were beautiful. We would definitely return here!!

The Lodge offers a great getaway
We enjoyed an adult family vacation at The Lodge. A nicely appointed and very comfortable home. We loved the deck for lounging, dining and playing board games. We made full use of all the great sporting equipment listed. A bit of a walk to the lake if you want to just pop down for a swim, but if you are going to stay at the beach for a few hours it doesn’t matter. There are fans in the bedrooms to help during the hotter summer nights so we were able to sleep fine. Great hiking near by. Lots of lakes in the vicinity. The owner/ manager was readily accessible to address any questions or issues. I recommend this property.

Lovely Getaway
Our family had a wonderful and peaceful vacation at The Lodge. This home has everything we needed to cook meals. Serene Lakes is an amazing place, and to be able to use the kayak was great.

Home away from home
We had a wonderful stay! Everything about the home is lovely,clean,very comfortable, and thoughfully amenitized down to the details. The covered deck with gas firetable, adirondack chairs,and deck heaters is a huge bonus. So many extras here. The hosts were super responsive, helpful, and gracious. This place is a 10 out of 10.

We'll be back!
This cabin is very well equipped for anyone to stay. Families have everything they need from books, high chairs, pack and play. The time and efforts of the hosts to set the cabin up for arrival is wonderful. Not only were we left everything for smores but also a very sweet note from the host. They are dog friendly and even offer their extras if you forgot something! The neighborhood has many stations for doggy bags which is really helpful. It's so peaceful and a nice getaway. Thank you for sharing this wonderful place!

Lovely family trip
Michael is a great host! He was so attentive and caring. We never traveled to a snow before so I had some concerns due to the storms. He checked in with me a few weeks before and confirmed with me a day before that the trip was safe for me and for my family. Once we arrived, he gave us clear instructions of how to park ( we needed to put on chains on the tires) We enjoyed the house so the kids. It’s a cozy nice getaway family vacation home. Highly recommend it!

Perfect Getaway
This was such a great place to stay. The home was easy to find, super clean and very comfortable for the three of us and our two little pups. Michael and Cary have setup a beautiful home with everything you need. I loved the afternoon on the deck with the firepit, making the complimentary smores kit they provided. Definitely a must rent if you are looking for a great place to stay in Serene.

Three generations at The Lodge
Small family gathering at The Lodge - 4 adults and 2 kids. We loved the covered porch with the fire pit and heat lamps complete with outdoor blankets. Worked great even though the wind chill was below zero. It was a great place to ride out blizzard conditions. Local sledding was great for all ages (we made good use of the sledding gear at the house) and Mike shared some very useful information about how to interpret traffic conditions, road closures and what to expect from local authorities for plowing protocol. The garage also came in handy for chain installation. For indoor activity there were games for all ages, great reading spaces and the bonus space downstairs turned out to be great space for taking ZOOM meetings for the poor souls who had to work. All in all, we had a great time. We highly recommend The Lodge.

Great House for Two Families Ski Weekend
The house was clean, well organized and stocked, and very comfortable. The beds were comfy and the knives were sharp -- always a great sign in a VRBO of owners who care and are mindful of their guests. The location was perfect for us, with easy access to Sugar Bowl, and fun to walk the dog in the neighborhood (and lots of snow!). Hosts were extremely welcoming and provided all the information we would need to check in and out. Thanks so much!

Perfect for the snow, comfy beds, fully stocked
We recently went to the Lodge in Serene Lakes, and we can't recommend it enough. The hosts, Michael and Cary, are extremely detailed, and their love of the cabin shines through. We went during a massive storm and enjoyed the fire inside and on the deck. The roads stayed plowed, and Michael checked in with us to ensure we could enjoy our stay. The kitchen is fully stocked with appliances and cookware. The beddings were comfy, and the attention to detail in the instructions was appreciated. Definitely will stay again, thank you Michael and Cary!!!!

Christmas 2022
Our family stayed here over Christmas 2022. The house is as advertised in a great location to explore the area. There is good communication with the owners if you need it which sometimes comes in handy with the changing weather conditions. We recommend this house for families who want to enjoy Tahoe. We did winter, but it is easy to see how this house would be great for summer too

Amazing weekend in the mountains
We got to see the magical first snowfall of the season from this cozy, wonderful cabin in Serene Lakes! From the s'mores on the deck to the neat as a pin interior, it was lovely.

Such a nice place!
Such a nice place! So clean and beautiful. Loved the new wood stove too. We sat outside on the deck in the morning to have our coffee and watch the sunrise. The owner is very responsive and even came up to bring us extra baking dishes. Thanks Michael!

Made peach pie and peach cobbler. Went kayaking and bicycle riding. Took walks to the lake. BBQ on the veranda and ate s’mores. Watched TV and played games. Our family had an awesome time. Would love to come back again. Property owners are super nice!!

Exceptional home
The Lodge is a great home. Unlike some rentals where you feel like amenities are missing, this place really has every detail. Top highlights included the bikes (4 bikes in great shape) the BBQ (clean, plenty of gas, worked well), the fire table and well stocked kitchen. In addition, the homeowners are so nice. We left a sweatshirt and they mailed it back to us - really above and beyond.

Relaxing mountain retreat
We had such a lovely stay at The Lodge! The property was impeccably kept and we felt right at home. Michael and Cary provided helpful information and personal touches that allowed us to easily settle in and find our way around. We took many walks around the neighborhood, spent some time down at the lake and enjoyed playing cards on the deck. We would love to return in the summer, but also in the winter to take advantage of the close proximity to some of the ski resorts.

Wonderful Mountain escape
The Lodge is lovely. Comfortable, clean and just easy to relax in. The thoughtfulness of the owners and communication was top notch. Lake is easy to find and enjoy kayaking, paddleboarding, walking and swimming. The neighborhood is quiet and friendly.

Clean, organized and quiet location
Location: quiet neighborhood far away from any restaurants. About 2-3 miles from Sugar Bowl. Close to lakes. We visited in winter. What we liked: organized kitchen, labeled light switches, nice towels, blankets for outside, mud room with sleds, benches, hooks and laundry. What would help make our stay more comfortable: Decor-Dead heads of animals and fishing rods hung on walls all over the house are not in our taste when these animals and fish could be happy alive in nature. New pillows. Current pillows are extremely lumpy and unusable. None of us slept due to this. Extras like tea, hot chocolate, marshmallows (not expired) would be a nice touch especially since all shops are far away. We used Waze for directions which had us going in circles due to a snowed in road. Clear written directions would be useful here. High snow walls at night make it difficult to find the house, even with the light on. A number of the house needs to be more visible from the street, at the entrance to driveway. TV didn’t work all day on Saturday. Amazon Fire had to be rebooted. Needs instructions for this if it happens again. Other than that accommodation was comfortable and quiet. Two couples with four kids would be comfortable.

Perfect weekend getaway!
We had such a wonderful time. The house is even better than the photos, deck equipment is fabulous and very simple to use (loved watching the snow by the fire pit!), kids adored the foosball table. I cook all our meals when we are away and this was one of the better equipped kitchens I’ve come across. Location was perfect - literally a five minute walk to the front door of Royal Gorge, and we had a wonderful time snow shoeing and cross country skiing. Hosts are so gracious and helpful, and everything in the house is top notch. Would love to come again!

This is a terrific property
We have stayed here twice, each time for 2 weeks, so obviously we love it. Why? Beautiful furnishings; well supplied kitchen; table long enough for dining at one end, computers and nerd stuff at the other end; walking distance to Royal Gorge XC ski area; helpful and friendly hosts; large first level changing/sports equipment area; plenty of firewood and starter fuels for fireplace; excellent TV, wall mounted. We did find that the TV was more reliable if we turned off some of our broadband hungry electronics (4 computers, 2 Kindles, an iPad, and 3 phones) but the host was very helpful and most people wouldn't be hogging the broadband like we do.

Cozy, great location
We had a lovely long weekend at The Lodge! Michael & Cary’s home was exactly as pictured and is perfectly situated just around the corner from Royal Gorge (5 min walk tk the main lodge) and a few minute drive from Sugar Bowl. Our crew enjoyed the wood fire to keep us toasty and the outdoor fit pit for roasting marshmallows!

Mountain Magic!
The Lodge is a dreamy getaway nestled in the seclusion of Serene Lakes, far from the maddening crowds. The cabin is spotless, glorious cathedral ceilings in the living area with a cozy wood stove, a table for a big family and a wonderful deck with fire pit and heat lamps just outside. The beds are all very comfortable, the kitchen well-stocked, fusbal and plenty of room in garage for wet ski gear. The cabin is just a few minutes from SugarBowl, there's a sledding hill around the corner if you have kids, and it you want to ski Palisades & Alpine as well as SB as we did, an easy drive. And I can't say enough about Mike's gracious, lightening fast, conscientious hosting! Our stay was over snowmageddon between Christmas and New Years so a lot of weather factors beyond anyone's control interfered and Mike could not have been more helpful, responsive, and generous offering us options of what to do if/when the pass finally opened. We had the best time and can't wait to return!

Nice place, good value, excellent owners.
This property was clean and well maintained. The access was easy, the owners welcoming, with great instructions on everything. The only suggested improvements would be stronger lighting in the common areas and higher water pressure, but this is trivial. We had a wonderful experience here and would definitely stay here again. Great value for the area.

Our second visit to the Lodge did not disappoint! Stayed with grandma and adult kids over Thanksgiving. My sisters family stayed in a nearby cabin and we hosted Thanksgiving dinner at the Lodge. The kitchen had most everything we needed in terms of cookware and utensils. All appliances worked well. Dining table expanded to seat 10. We love the outdoor deck area and enjoyed corn hole and the firepit with plenty of seating and blankets. We can't wait to return!

Wonderful
The Lodge was immaculate and had everything you could possibly need for a family trip. The attention to detail was beyond our expectations! Thoughtful touches from the owners, indoor and outdoor entertainment were some of the things that made our trip spectacular. The kitchen was well stocked, beds were comfortable, and there were many items to enjoy at the lake. Perfect rental for a Summer trip!! We will definitely come again in the Winter. FANTASTIC RENTAL!

This is a very well appointed home with plenty of room to spread out. The porch was such a plus. Super clean! It was a perfect home for us to stay in while we attended my nephew’s wedding in Sugar Bowl. The hosts thought of everything, and communication was prompt.

Wonderful vacation home!
We had a wonderful time at The Lodge. The owners really thought of everything to make our stay fun and comfortable. The house was spacious, clean, and very homey. The kids loved all of the games and puzzles and we all enjoyed playing fuseball. The deck was awesome with the firepit and s’mores! The kayak was so convenient at the beach and easy to get in and out of the lake. The area is just gorgeous and we all loved paddling and swimming all day. Can’t wait to come back!
