Slagelse is also home to one of Denmark's largest barracks, so every Wednesday you can experience the guard hussars riding through town. If you are a Viking, it is worth visiting Trelleborg Viking Castle near Hejninge, which is working towards inclusion on the UNESCO World Heritage List and is very interesting.
