We stayed for a long weekend hoping to get away from the fireworks in the city. The host confirmed that there was a fireworks ban in the community, and it was enforced. We never heard even 1 firework go off!
Some of the reviews of this place are complaining about privacy and rowdy neighbors... if you keep in mind that you are staying at a cabin, next to other cabins, there will be other people (it's not a rustic cabin in the middle of nowhere!!).
We were there on the 4th and things were very low key. Other people were out grilling with their family or drinking with their friends on their own porches. The property has nice natural bushes and trees as barriers, it's not a hedge wall that you can't see through, but unless people are crawling into the bushes to peek through... it's private!
The complaints about how far away the water is also silly, of course you can't jump off the back porch into the river in the summer... It was a 5 minute walk from the house down a quiet road and down a nice wooded trail where there were 2 picnic tables and a BBQ.
The kitchen is freshly re-done, new appliances and everything worked well.
The only slightly misleading thing from the post was the fire pit, it really is just a fire pit in the bushes between the 2 houses. Unless you are friends with the people next door, you probably won't be sitting out there.
We will be back next year!
