So quiet and peaceful. My favorite spot is the screened in porch! We were welcomed with delicious chocolate chip cookies and cinnamon rolls. We will definitely be returning.

Independence weekend

This house is so lovely, I would recommend! Upon arrival there were home made brownies made which I thought were very thoughtful. My family and I enjoyed staying here and the beds were so comfortable! Thank you Kitty for being so responsive and for everything!

Amazing, quiet and relaxing.

We loved every minute of this place. First morning we woke up to baby deer just outside our front door. The house is spacious and fully stocked. Owners were great to work with and responded to all of our questions quickly. We will be back.

We will definitely be back!

Our family stayed for 5 days, and we had a wonderful time. The place was very clean and beautifully decorated. It had everything you need from cooking to laundry. The owners Kitty and Don were very nice and friendly. Their house is in walking distance if you need anything, yet you still have privacy in a separate house. There is a little creek you can explore and a hammock by their house, and they also let us pick blueberries in their garden. We went to Long Beach and Astoria during our stay (Both about one hour drive - nice day trips). Longview is also about one hour away if you want more stores/restaurants. The best part is that this place is dog friendly. It’s hard to find a nice place that allows dogs so we were very thankful. If you are looking for a nice place in a quiet small town just to relax and spend time with family/friends, this is a perfect house!

Well stocked escape from the city

This place is nestled in a gorgeous area between the river and the coast. A creek runs past and it’s quite lovely. Our family was very impressed by the care that Kitty & Don put into making this a cozy getaway. They’ve prepared everything you could possibly need and more in this space. Puzzles, books, kitchen gadgets, and very comfortable furniture. Highly recommend taking a vacation at their space!

Ease and Relaxation "TOPS"

The whole layout of the places was easy to get around and relaxing immediately upon entering. Two full bathrooms a plus for the five adults the were us. Having a sound and bug isolated veranda was just the place to escape into a book while the others watched television inside. We really enjoyed our stay and will likely return. Deer grazed in the surrounding fields at night. Just beautiful!

Cozy and Quiet

We enjoyed our stay at this sweet cottage just outside Skamakowa, WA. The hosts were kind and welcoming. We found chocolate-peanut butter bars and cinnamon rolls in the 'frig, and Don baked us two loaves of his special "Tartine" bread. We loved the end-of-the -road location--a perfect place to take walks with our two young energetic collies. They loved romping in the pasture, too. Quiet and peaceful--we were relaxed and well-fed by the end of our stay. Highly recommend!

Lovely, restful getaway

We enjoyed everything about this stay. The property was so clean and spacious enough for our group. We enjoyed the outdoor space daily. Kitty was such a sweet hostess and brought us delicious homemade goodies. It was an absolutely perfect week.

Lovely home in the country- so relaxing & quiet!

What a wonderful week we had at this great home! The owners are so friendly & hospitable, simply the best hosts we’ve had the pleasure to meet at any rental. The house is very well equipped and a great kitchen to cook in. The beds were so comfortable and the fireplace really cozy. Nestled in a quiet location, with the sound of the creek running nearby, be sure to step out at night to see the glory of the stars. Peaceful, quiet and all of the above.

Peaceful and relaxing retreat

This is a home away from home. It's easily the most well-kept VRBO we have ever stayed in. It's been a great place to go to relax and get away from the hustle and noise of the city. We've seen lots of wildlife in during our stays - deer, elk, birds, even a coyote. The electric fencing keeps the latter away from the house. One thing I would recommend is a few more pots and pans in the kitchen for making meals, since there are no places to get prepared food nearby. Other than that, the house has everything you need - and more! Plenty of puzzles, games, and books to keep you entertained. We also had Kitty and Don prepare dinner for us the night we arrived and it was amazing! Everything was delicious and there was enough food for leftovers. We can't wait to come back!

Great peaceful home surrounded by fields and trees

Beautiful quiet area with lots of wild life. The creeks run all around the property and its very peaceful to sit in the screened in patio, listening to them. Deer came right up to the fence line, and we watched heroin fly into the creek area. Tracked some elk on the local trails in the snow and found them down the road eating out in the fields. Plenty of wildlife even during the winter and lots of forest roads to explore. I agreed with another review, a few more window treatments could be used in the dining room and kitchen windows as well as the narrow windows above the beds. I also think some sort of heater out on the patio would have really put it over the top as during the colder months that area doesn't get much sun and its an amazing place to be. There isn't many movies so bring your blue ray or dvds, otherwise the internet was plenty strong for us to stream things from our media laptop and hook up to the TV. Something I have found at many rentals is a lack of good sound systems with Bluetooth, I'd highly recommend that for this place to stand out. We bring our own travel speaker and the internet allowed us to also stream music just fine. Another thing we find missing a lot is a water filter system, that would be another thing to put it over the top. We've already planned the next trip back here and am very thankful for the dog friendliness, its hard to find good places that don't discriminate against dog owners. This place is easily in the top 3 best rentals we've stayed at, thank you for an amazing experience and excited to come back soon!

Peaceful and pretty

Very pretty ranch style home with green scenery all around the house. Very quiet and peaceful. Owners were very accommodating, and even left wonderful cinnamon rolls for us. Kids enjoyed the wifi, and we all loved the big table for game night. There is an enclosed patio that is also quite nice. WE recommend this property.

Peace and tranquility

This place is perfect if you are looking to "get away" or disconnect from the rat race. It is quiet and peaceful, it is great for spending quality time with your family and/or friends. My favorite time was early in mornings, a bit overcast, fog rolling over the hills and trees, you can hear the breeze blowing through the trees, birds and moving water in the distance. the property is well cared for, clean and has everything you need, just bring your food as it is a bit out the way. Kitty is an awesome host and we will consider staying here again

Lovely place for a relaxing weekend

From the moment we arrived, we were impressed with the house (and the cinnamon rolls from Kitty were an added bonus!). It was spacious and beautiful and the surrounding countryside was gorgeous. Kitty checked in several times during the weekend to make sure things were going well. We spent a good portion of one day doing puzzles we found there and the kitchen provided lots of space to cook. While my cousins complained that the internet wasn't up to their standards, I don't think it was meant to support 6 people online at once (and on multiple devices) and it was fine for me. Overall, we'd love to come back!

Get Off The Grid

If you are looking for a beautiful place to stay that is out away from town, stores, internet, or a place where you can have a lot of space and not want the tourist part of the beach visit, this is your place. Save up for some of the best cinnamon rolls freshly baked and enjoy this wonderfully spacious home.

Beautiful property and amazing hosts

We loved our stay! They house was even more beautiful than the photos! The beds were very comfortable and the house was well appointed. We had everything we needed. There were beautiful hikes near the grounds and the hosts were so friendly and gracious, and even left us delicious homemade cinnamon rolls for breakfast! Highly recommend.

The Roadhouse at Crippen Creek in Skamokawa (skamawkaway)❤️

We loved our stay at the Roadhouse. Such a beautiful home with lots of room to relax and soak up fresh country air. It’s a bit of a drive from the cities of Astoria and Long Beach, but what a beautiful drive! Our hosts are so nice and shared tips for great places to visit while we were there. Kitty also shared a scrumptious plate of her famous cinnamon rolls 😋. Our daughters are in power wheelchairs. It was a treat to find this home very wheelchair accessible. I hope to visit Crippen Creek again someday.
