We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the New England cottage / cabin @ Shaver Lake. The home was clean & spacious & very comfortable! We really loved the big picture windows in the main living area, as well as the pool table upstairs & the wonderful rock fireplace! It was a quiet & peaceful & restful getaway, exactly what we needed! Thank you!!

Absolutely Perfect Getaway – Can’t Wait to Return!

We recently stayed 6 nights and 7 days at the Cozy Mountain Home in Shaver and truly didn’t want to leave. This home was absolutely beautiful—spotless, spacious, and full of charm. The stunning mountain views alone are worth the trip!The layout was perfect for our family, with every bedroom having its own private bathroom—a huge plus! The kitchen was a great size for cooking and gathering, and the propane BBQ made for fun outdoor meals. The neighborhood was peaceful and quiet, allowing us to fully relax and recharge. We also loved that the garage was available to us; it was perfect for storing our bikes safely.We spent our days playing games, exploring, relaxing, and most importantly—bonding as a family. It was a much-needed escape, and we made memories we’ll never forget. Being just minutes from the lake was the cherry on top.One small tip: if you're staying more than a couple of days, it’s helpful to bring a few extra kitchen trash bags and dishwashing soap, as only a couple of each were provided. Not a big deal at all, just good to know in advance.Overall, we cannot say enough good things about this rental. It felt like home the moment we walked in, and no one wanted to leave. We will definitely be back!

Loved the cabin it was in a perfect location just 5 mins from the town. The cabin is huge with a bathroom in every bedroom which is very nice. The dryer does not work and the propane was out but they did bring us some propane right away but it will be perfect if the dryer worked. It also needs a can opener I didn’t bring one thinking it would have all of that but over all loved the place. Also the fireplace was nice and the views were amazing I will definitely be back.

Original linens, cookware, and furniture is not a selling point!

I wish I could give this cabin a good review but it started from access to the property with given code and the response time for help with this issue is always ridiculous. The cabin itself was perfect for our family of teenagers. They basically took over the upstairs which left two bedrooms with bathrooms downstairs. Obviously I know the linens are provided by the mgmt but comforters and blankets are probably the original linen’s the owners used along with ALL furniture including mattresses. The furniture is completely falling apart and not comfortable. Decided to do a load of laundry (towels) and washer starts making crazy sounds on the rinse cycle. I put the towels in the dryer and pretty sure the dryer does not work. Bathrooms, downstairs bathroom had a ball of long black hair on top of the drain. Bathroom upstairs upon arrival had issues. Probably why there’s a plunger beside the toilet. On New Years Eve morning I realized the hot water heater had stopped working. I began sending txt msgs at 7:30. I received a call from handyman at 10:30ish to come look at it. At this point with every else happening I’m like im cutting my losses here because idk when the WH will be fixed and I have 4 teenage girls. I asked the guy to have his manager contact me when they got a minute. Today is 1/13/25 and I have yet to hear from anyone @Vacasa. The cabin is just in dying need of some maintenance, upgrades of linens, pots and pans, and furniture. I would not stay here again.

Nice, comfortable place

Great place for families or groups of friends. Pros: * The three bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms * Big kitchen table * Nice layout where everyone can be together downstairs or go upstairs for some separation. Cons: * Couch was a bit old and not super comfortable, but not bad overall. * Internet was kind of slow and sometimes seemed stop altogether. Was a little bit of an issue when trying to do some video calls.

Unkept property

Couldn’t check in at 4. Next day had tree trimmers, people on the roof, guys yelling, weed wackers, and leaf blowers for 1 1/2-2 hours, and my husband wasn’t feeling well. Third day the owners showed up and said they didn’t know we were here. They did their “monthly review” of their home, checked filters, etc and left after an hour. The home is very musty with old smelling due to old furniture and unclean carpet, jelly and syrup on the front of the kitchen counter fronts, microwave has food stuck on the glass wheel inside, where my paper towel stuck, there is a huge spider and web in the kitchen window corner where it would open the bottom pane. The house was NOT ready for visitors after the winter. Garage had leaves and debris inside, no furniture on the deck, however the owners took care of that one two items. The reviews and listing mentioned no air conditioning, so we brought our fan. The fans at the house have dust caked on, so you would get a dose of allergy dust if turned on. The home could be very nice, just no upkeep by the housekeeping or the owners. We will not rent again.

Disappointing

What was supposed to be a relaxing weekend to unwind and relax was stressful and uncomfortable. The house has a nice layout and the view out the back windows were wonderful. However, upon arrival it was discovered the kitchen was not clean and dirty dishes and silverware had been put away unwashed. Wet laundry was also found in the washing machine. The house was dusty in common areas that should have been wiped down. We immediately contacted the property manager hoping the home could be cleaned as we still had 4 nights in the property. What ended up being a 4 hour stint to try and complain to the manager and VRBO only resulted in a complaint being filed by each; the only response we eventually received was an email the last night indicating a small credit was being given. As there were not a lot of other options in the area we stayed, but had to run multiple loads of dishes in the dishwasher and do laundry to feel semi-comfortable with the cleanliness. The furnishings are getting old and need replacing, and the beds are not very comfortable as stated in other reviews, but those were minor issues after the state of the kitchen. It was a very disappointing trip, after weeks of planning. The property could be lovely, but it does need a deep cleaning and the furnishings and beds need some updating.

Great Home - Majestic Views - Been Here Before and will Be Back Again

The giant windows in the living room are dramatic and luxurious. Beds were comfortable. Carpets and living room furniture are starting to show their age but not bad. Kitchen is adequate but some of the pots and pans are also well used. Shower drains were just a little slow in two of the three. Overall a fantastic place.

Beautiful great location

The cabin was beautiful, clean, and a great location. Unfortunately, we booked two nights and only stayed for one because of the beds and sleeping areas. The three full size beds are so uncomfortable we could not sleep. You can feel the springs in the beds. Please add mattress pads on top! The upstairs game room was fun until it was time to sleep there. No curtains and very bright from neighbors lights and moon shining in large windows. Please add window covers! The rest of the house was very nice, but sleeping wasn't good.

Cottage by the Sea!!!!

Our stay was amazing! The outside needs to be attended too, weeds are a bit too over grown, trying to get to the front door was a lil hard for some of the family members. ALL ROOMS SHOULD HAVE FANS! TV in living room can be upgraded & all rooms could have TV’s with cable. Would be nice to be able to lock your bedroom door. Corner on the carpet, should be fixed or replaced. Kept lifting causing us to trip & almost fall. Just some suggestions, but overall this house is amazing, big, peaceful!!!! We will definitely be back!!!!

Quiet, great nature views, plenty of space

We stayed here for Thanksgiving. What a perfect place for a family getaway. There were 4 adults and 2 kids in our party. Loved that each bedroom has its own bathroom. The windows in the living room let in lots of light and truly make it feel like you’re away from it all. Even though it’s in a neighborhood. you can’t see any houses. Kitchen had everything we needed. Laundry room was a bonus, especially with kids. We sipped on late night whiskey on the deck and watched the stars above the silhouette of the tall pines. Magical. I saw some people posting about the carpet in the dining room that they kept tripping on and didn’t think anything of it until it kept happening to us. They really need to take the time to replace that rug. My elderly parents were with us and I kept worrying they’d fall. It’s a major tripping hazard in a high traffic area. Even if not elderly, we kept tripping from kitchen to table with food. Not great when carrying hot dishes. Would have been a 5 star otherwise.

Peace and Rest

The three pastors from our church stayed here for three nights to get away for a retreat. We had an excellent time. This home is peaceful and quite. The views out of the living room windows are amazing. You feel like you are outside. We even saw a bear cub roaming through the woods from the safety of the deck. The bed are comfortable and it’s awesome that each couple could have their own room with their own bathroom. The pool table was an unexpected bonus. The only negative is the corner of the rug in the dining area is curled up and we kept tripping over it constantly. It became rather comical after awhile. Other than that minor detail we loved it and will likely try to book it again!

Wonderful stay

The property was beautiful. The kids especially loved the pool table in the game room. Plenty of sleeping space. The rooms were spacious and each had its own bathroom. Only recommendation I’d make is to bring your own cookware so that you have what you need when preparing meals. Otherwise, the property was perfect!

Beautiful house in the woods

We had a fabulous time in Shaver Lake. The marina is minutes away and the house has large rooms with a bonus room for the kids upstairs. My young adult kids really enjoyed the pool table. The 3 master suites were perfect! The kitchen was well stocked and everything was meticulously maintained and decorated to create a warm welcoming feeling. We were excited to see the spa- but unfortunately, were told it wasn't included- would have been awesome to be able to soak this bod after a long day of water skiing! LOL Overall, just a lovely welcoming home.

Great home and location

Garage door didn’t work. Chain was disengaged Upstairs sink drains slowly One crisper shelf in fridge missing Upstairs fan in pool room was on when we arrived so we left it on Unfortunately two wine glasses broke. Just tipped over on table or sink and shattered. Sorry. Left $20 on counter to replace. Thanks again. Great place and would come again. D&J
