This beautiful log home (custom-built by the owners) was exactly as described. The picturesque setting, nestled amongst the towering evergreen trees gave a feeling that you were a million miles from civilization when in fact you are only about a twenty-five minute drive from the town of Seward. The lake is a short walk (about 100 yards) from the cabin. We did some fishing and built a fire from drift wood found along the shore. That first day/ evening, sitting around that fire, with Kenai Lake for a background, all the trappings of this world dissipated.
The town of Seward is very quaint and the people are extremely friendly (indeed everyone we met in Alaska, from arrival to departure, was very friendly). The photos you take cannot do justice to the beauty of the surrounding snow-capped mountains, rivers, bays and lakes - only seeing the breath-taking landscapes with your own eyes can one appreciate the indescribable natural wonder that is Alaska.
Every part of the United States has it's own pristine magnificence, but after traveling to Alaska, my family and I have seen a place that is truly awe-inspiring no matter in which direction one looks.
We are forever grateful that we were able to visit this beautiful slice of Heaven on Earth and if a trip to Alaska is on your Bucket List, make it happen - You ain't getting no younger.
