We brought a family of 12 to the Weeks Worth cabin advertised with a max capacity of 14. Overall, we were satisfied with the cabin. The following are our key takeaways for future renters:
- The bed arrangements were acceptable for 12 adults. The advertised 14 would only work if the have 2-3 children.
- The location in Wears Valley was actually a very good launching point for each day’s activities. You only had to deal the main drag on Parkway when you wanted to.
- Not everyone would enjoy it as much as us, but our family really enjoyed the daily visits from one or more black bears.
-The cabin needed some attention with the exterior rail fence and stairs which were verging on unsafe. We reported this and a few other overlooked maintenance items (clogged gutters) to the Volunteer Cabin Rental office. They seemed appreciative of our feedback, so hopefully these things will get fixed soon. The only issue that might impact a weekly rental is the fence and stairs. Everything else just needs to be fixed to avoid damaging the cabin.
- The kitchen was surprisingly well stocked with plates, utensils and cookware.
-The cabin has a gas grill, but it was in serious need of new burners. I reported this too. Basically you are limited to hamburgers and hotdogs in its current state.
Overall we were pretty happy with this first Pigeon Forge family vacation, so its very likely we will do it again.
