No shampoo or body wash in house. No laundry detergent for the laundry machines. Host was nice and answers the phone quickly, but the excuse of them losing money on people stealing the shampoo/body wash is no excuse. Luckily family dollar nearby wasn’t closed yet. $10 to buy full bottles of face wash, shampoo, body wash. They should at least tell guests early that they don’t provide those, otherwise if someone comes late expecting that to be available, after all stores are closed, what are they supposed to do? Kitchen condiments are all very old/expired. Some plates are cracked, pans scratched. Overall cleanliness is great, no bugs or pests inside the house and sheets were freshly laundered.

It was a great place for outdoorsmen to come back to after a day on the water. Clean and comfortable.

Every thing was in order and the showers were hot. Thank you so much Rachel for the stay we will definitely be back next year, heck we might be back this year lol. Take care. And Godless . I highly recommend this place for any hunter or fisherman.

Nice Getaway

My wife and I have been coming to Hyde County for years to hunt and fish, this cottage suitet us just fine. Perfect location and an added bonus having fresh oysters just across the road. Quiet and well appointed and cozy enough for 5 guests. Owner is quick to answer if there are problems and very nice. We will be back next year, God willing.

Perfect for Guys Hinting Trip

We had everything we needed. The space was just the right size for 3/4 people. The outside was a little cluttered but didn’t bother us. I would offer a couple of recommendations: 1. Having some firewood for the wood stove would be a great addition. 2. A pullout couch would be better than the futon. 3. Need some space to hang hunting gear to help keep things better organized. We truly had a great time and space was great hope to come back next year!

The house itself was clean overall except some weird food remnants on the ceiling in the kitchen. However, the minute one opened the front door, the smell of stale cigarette smell smacks you in the face. We immediately contacted the owner who gave a slight refund. If this was not in such a rural area, we would not have stayed even as long as we did as we are non-smokers. At 3:30 in the morning, I woke up with a huge head ache and sore throat from the unhealthy air in the home. I contacted VRBO who couldn’t do anything unless they could contact the owner. I again messaged the owner who then refunded most of our money and we drove an hour and a half to a hotel to stay there for the remainder of our trip which was an inconvenience as our son and his family was in the area of the VRBO. I have stayed in a few dozen VRBO’s and I have never had one with poor air quality due to stale cigarette smoke. On top of that, some kitchen items like a cutting board, toaster, and a good serrated knife would have been nice for cooking the couple of meals we did cook while there. Also, allowing a broom to be handy to sweep would have been good as well, but all cleaning supplies were locked up. I know the owner is new to VRBO, but the unhealthy air quality should have been disclosed. For those who smoke, it most likely wouldn’t bother them.
