Not my first rental in the Scotland area and was not disappointed! Jocelyn was communicative and kind and the house was lovely, cozy and clean. The house wasn't 100% ready at check-in, but she gave us advance notice and as it happened, we were running behind anyway. The property is well equipped, steps from the beach, has a beautiful backyard for warmer months, and was a great size for two couples and an infant on a winter retreat. Our only complaints were the tap water (very smelly and not pleasant to shower in, much less to drink - definitely bring your own bottled water), the lack of access to the game shed in the winter (the photos did not imply that this was a seasonal offering - maybe our mistake?) and the lack of storage in the kitchen. The owners have tons of food, kitchen equipment, and a huge selection of platters and dishware available, which seems like a perk until you try to fit your groceries somewhere. The small amount of counter space is also chock-full of decor (not unlike the rest of the house), so with the four of us cooking three meals a day we had to keep most of our food in the laundry area. For a longer trip, this would have been a bigger issue, but a small nuisance in comparison to everything else about this lovely home. Overall, the Hideaway clearly takes hospitality seriously, has a good cleaning crew and a spectacular location. We hope to visit again someday!
