The best dog friendly rental we have stayed in so far. The house was clean, the beds comfortable, nicely updated and the rustic decor charming. Scaly mountain is between Highlands NC and Dillard Ga, so close enough either way to enjoy shopping and restaurants but rural enough to feel like you live in the country. Lots of dog friendly hiking trails nearby. Loved the front porch with its swing and cool evenings, and the fire pit. Definitely recommend.

Wedding weekend with friends

Perfect location for the weekend celebrating at the winery for our friends wedding… Lovely little cottage in the woods, our host could not have been more accommodating and friendly with his communications. A great experience.

Absolutely beautiful house and grounds. Very quite and relaxing., the house was fully stocked with all the amenities .Could not of enjoyed our relaxing stay more if i tryed.We will be back.

Great Time!

What a great spot Kemper has in Scaly Mountain! We attended a wedding at The Vineyard at High Holly and his home is 5 minutes away! Perfect setting for a relaxing stay. We will be back and thanks Kemper for opening your home to us!

Charming house.

The house was very charming. We had no issues with the cleanliness of the property. The house was decorated beautifully. It was also a nice location. Private & secluded but only a short drive to Highlands!

Great stay in Scaly Mountain

The cabin is well appointed with a great porch. We appreciated the hosts flexibility. Having our name on the board out front made it more relaxing coming in after dark and knowing we'd found the right house. Thank you!

Quaint and quiet

This mountain cabin has been updated and was clean and well stocked on our arrival. Very quiet area and close to family that we were visiting. The driveway is a bit steep so the 4x4 came in handy, but it's the mountains so not unusual for the area. Internet service is a bit spotty and not 'high speed' but again - that's normal for the area. We will look to stay here again for our next visit to the area.

Peaceful

Great place to relax after running around looking at waterfalls and shopping. Kids loved collecting acorns and wrestling on the grass. Owner was accommodating and responsive to any minor issues. Would stay again.

Would love to stay here again!

We not only loved the property and house (perfect outdoor space for our two dogs too), but the host was very kind and responsive. Place is super clean, well equipped and truly a 5-star place. I’d highly recommend this peaceful and cozy getaway.

Exceptional Retreat!

We stayed at this cozy house the weekend before Valentine’s to attend a wedding in Highlands. Everything as described was to a T! Plenty of kitchen supplies for additional people. Attention to detail such as the basket of goodies to make s’mores (unfortunately it was rainy and cold) and other snacks. We loved the coffee bar, too! The porch is so welcoming as you enter the home. I can’t say enough about our stay other than I wish we could’ve stayed longer and the weather had been more cooperative.

Everything about this reservation was perfect… from the host and his super personable approach, to the meticulously clean and chic cabin… the snacks, coffee and s’mores added to the atmosphere and experience… also, I must say, location, location, location! It doesn’t get better than this.

SUPER Clean and welcoming

My family of 5 with three young adult boys and our dog, loved our stay at this property. The place was spotless, I mean CRAZY clean. The host had a ton of coffee, creamers and snacks set out for us. Also, plenty of paper towels, dishwasher detergent, and even toilet paper. The owner was super communicative and responded quickly to my messages. Make sure you hit Mud Creek trail to see the waterfall. This place may not have a scenic view, but we enjoyed playing games at the big dining table and the fire pit outside! Great post Christmas get away!!!
