This place turned out to be a wonderful find for us. Ideally situated between Woodstock and Saugerties, one of the things we liked right away is that the property offers privacy without feeling remote. It’s located on a quiet road and there is no light pollution to spoil the night sky. The property is about an acre (I believe) and there is a good amount of space between the house and any neighbors.
The best part though is the inside space. Sarah has taken what I imagine was an ordinary mid-century rancher and turned it into a warm, inviting retreat. While there are enough knick-knacks and wall art to make it feel like one is staying at a relative’s country cottage, it doesn’t feel cluttered or overdone. My wife found the kitchen to be very functional and although we had brought a few of our own cooking items, this turned out to be unnecessary. The kitchen already had everything we needed.
Every room has abundant natural light and the walls and ceilings are all white, giving it a light and airy feel. We particularly enjoyed the small but cozy dining room with its rustic wooden dinner table and ample windows on three sides, providing a great view of the property while eating.
I would mention the negatives as well except there really weren’t any, except perhaps for the mosquitos (outside, not in the house). But hey, it’s upstate NY. Be sure to pack your bug spray during the warm months! All in all, we had a great experience and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.
