Blue Zen

Lovely location! Easy access to Saugutuck and Douglas but secluded and so beautiful! We were so fortunate to be there during Sandhill crane migration (we stayed 10/23-10/27) and there were literally hundreds of cranes in the marsh by the river!! Unfortunately we were also there during duck hunting season so the peace and tranquility was a bit ruined each morning but gunshots and loud boats. The gunshots scared all the cranes away! I would definitely avoid hunting season in the future! The property itself is lovely. Definitely only suited to one couple though. The second bed is essentially in a sun porch with no window coverings and you have to go through the primary bedroom to get to it. The bathroom is tiny but servicable. The bed in the primary bedroom is a Tempurpedic! Adjustable and massage included. As someone with a bad back who has had more than one trip ruined by a bad mattress, this was a real treat! . Overall fantastic property! We will be back but will avoid hunting season.

A cozy cottage

Great spot to get away from city life. Close to many towns with an easy drive to the lake/beaches. It was just perfect for our family of four!

Tranquil Location

This is a great property. Turtle and wildlife are watching are primary activities. It is perfect for someone who wants to escape and read a book or set up a canvas and paint. I would recommend it for a couple but it can sleep 4 comfortably.

Great stay. Hard to leave.

The house was everything as advertised and the view was spectacular. Had everything you needed for a comfortable stay. Would be difficult for more than a couple with the layout; however, for my wife and I it was hard to say goodbye.

Secluded feeling property with superb views of nature, feeling miles away yet an 8 minute drive to all Saugatuck has to offer. Restaurants, shopping, marina. Lots to do in the area, but sitting on the patio listening to birds was a highlight.

Quiet relaxation!

This property is beautiful, especially in springtime when all the marsh/river critters are active! Binoculars provided (a wonderful touch), prepare to birdwatch. There is one neighbor with a hot tub you can almost see from the backyard, otherwise it is very secluded and private. Did not bother us one bit. Very clean and all the comforts of home provided, the perfect place to get away and enjoy nature. Download the Merlin bird app, you won't be disappointed!! Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Peaceful paradise

The cottage was clean, well appointed kitchen. Fire place made it feel very cozy. Absolutely loved the view and watching/listening to all the sandhill cranes.

Blue Zensation

The cottage was clean, well equipped and very comfortable. A great view of the river and surrounding marsh is an extra treat with Bald Eagles and Sandhill Cranes in the distance. A feeling of quiet but proximity to the activity of Saugatuk and Douglas made for a perfect weekend.

Peace and Quiet in the Woods

We stayed 3 nights at Blue Zen. It is in a very quiet, peaceful, natural location. The road to the house seemed to transport us from noisy and busy to quiet and calm. The house is as is reported. There is ample space for 2 people. We had guests for dinner one evening and enjoyed the outdoor space. It was nice to be able to use the fire pit, thanks for the wood. The house was clean and tidy. We found everything we needed, good internet access and tv entertainment. We would return.

a wonderful sanctuary in the woods on the banks of the kalamazoo river. lovely setting. great view of the river and the sunrise. home is clean and well appointed. we'll be staying here again!

Relaxing!

My husband and I hadn't been away from the kids in almost 3 years and this was the perfect getaway to refresh and relax. Even though the power went out in the area after some heavy wind storms, it was still so nice to be in the quiet and beautiful home!

Wonderful experience

This property was very clean, just minutes from the downtown area, and the views from the property were amazing. We enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it. I did leave a message with in the first hour of our stay because the door was not locked when we arrived. I never heard back from anyone, but other then that we had no problems.

Retreat in the woods with a view of the wetlands/river.

Perfect getaway. Far from others (despite a nearby cottage that wasn't visible from our patio), but just a short drive to civilization. Lovely for bike-riding. Wish there had been more wildlife/birds. Single tiny bathroom could be an issue for others, but wasn't for us. Very comfortable. Fabulous view. Some shades on the livingroom windows (and second bedroom- but we weren't using it) could help to keep it cool and avoid using the A/C. We'd come again.

A peaceful escpae

This was our second experience at Blue Zen. What a wonderful find. A peaceful and nature immersive modern cabin close to but separated enough from more populated vacation activities and towns. The care our hosts took of the property was obvious and appreciated. We look forward to and plan on making it a regular visit.

Perfect for Nature Lovers

The cottage was great. Comfortable, clean, beautiful view of the river. Location was good and fairly close to everything we wanted to do. One bedroom is full of windows with no window coverings-lovely view of the woods but some people may not like the wide open feel for a bedroom. I saw a gorgeous sunrise one morning. I enjoyed sitting on the patio, listening to the birds in the morning and evening. I loved the herons-at one point I saw 3. I didn’t really want to leave.

Blue Zen with 2 Teens!

Our daughter and her BFF are 15 , so for anyone wondering, Blue Zen is doable with 2 teens. The place is immaculate, with every detail being thought of. Would definitely stay again!

Beautiful stay!

What a beautiful spot! Easy check in process, kitchen was well appointed, plenty of towels. Views are gorgeous. There’s binoculars, which were fun. As others have pointed out, window coverings on the back bedroom would be a wonderful addition. They’ve added an AC unit to the living room, which was helpful during the May heatwave (86 degrees and high humidity). Between the 2 AC units we were very comfortable, though the back bedroom got stuffy. A ceiling fan or even just a normal fan would make it more comfortable. Overall, a great stay! I would stay again.

Beautiful place for a relaxing getaway

We had a wonderful time, the property was beautiful, quiet, clean and relaxing. It was the perfect setting to enjoy the long weekend. Everything was just as stated in the listing. We Would definitely rent this again if we ever head back to Saugatuck.
