We had a really relaxing stay and great location near wineries. We love animals so enjoyed interacting with all the animals on the property. The host communicated well and was super friendly, so overall it was a positive experience.

The promise of farm animals was the major attraction for us when we chose to stay at The Farmhouse. And we can’t overpraise how fun and interesting our stay turned out to be. Owners Kris and Francisco care for chickens, geese, a Tom Turkey, ponies, goats, and even a 140 lb tortoise, many of them rescues. We loved watching them and scattering feed for the chickens and Mr. Big. The Farmhouse is a charming, relaxing and fun cottage. Kris welcomed us as we arrived, and made us a present of freshly made bread, butter and homemade jams. A basket of newly laid eggs awaited us, together with a bottle of their excellent house-made Cabernet-Merlot blend. While we decompressed from our long drive before heading out to dinner, we enjoyed our treats together with a glass of The Farmhouse wine. Just minutes away from Los Olivos, Santa Ynez, and Solvang, it was easy to explore, shop, and enjoy several nice restaurants. Wineries and tasting rooms abound, so we made time to stop at a few to taste the local offerings. The weather was perfect during our stay. Rocking chairs on the back patio offered the perfect vantage for watching the jet fighter hummingbirds defend the feeder hanging nearby. While I am most happy just hanging out, my husband usually wants to charge ahead to see what’s just around the corner. But with the addition of a day trip here and there, we both loved watching the animals, feeding the chickens, sipping wine on the patio and just plain relaxing.

Little Extras, Big Success!

We had a wonderful stay at the farmhouse. Kris was a fantastic host and the little extras made our stay extra special. From the basket of farm fresh eggs, loaf of fresh bread, homemade jam and wine to the motion detection lights that turned on like magic on the path from the parking to the farmhouse...each of these little touches made our stay so special. Cozy bed and linens, ground coffee and sugar, chickens to greet you and a tortoise! Cheers Kris!

Perfect May getaway with awesome host!

We enjoyed a nice, quiet getaway in the heart of wine country at this lovely place. Kris (the host) greeted us with warm homemade bread and fresh eggs. She is an amazing host making us feel comfortable but not intrusive in any way. Their place is so fun and cozy and after a long day of wine tasting and driving, her place was ideal. Highly recommend and we will be heading back next year to see more wineries and enjoy this place!

Delightful Farm Cottage

Kris and Francisco greeted us warmly. They were very attentive. We were greeted with fresh baked bread, a bottle of wine, fresh eggs from their very productive hens. Their cottage is charming, cozy and well equipped for a delightful stay in the country. You are greeted by their spirited farm animals who want to make you feel welcomed as well. Although on the farm, just minutes from Los Olivos. Look forward to our next visit!

Perfect Wine Country Getaway

Stayed for three nights at this lovely farmhouse. Kris met me with fresh baked bread and eggs and told me about all the adorable animals. It was so nice to have the quiet farmhouse to come back to and relax after visiting vineyards during the day. Centrally located among the local towns with loads of delicious restaurants. I'd recommend this house to anyone!

Little Farmhouse Stay

Wonderful host! Loved to talk with her about the farm and animals. Loved the turkey the most but also liked the goats and wedding dress geese. Host greeted us with freshly baked bread, homemade jelly and wine, and fresh eggs from her chickens. Some days we fed the chickens and some days not, but every day we interacted with the animals in some way. Enjoyed the small towns nearby, especially Los Olivos. Had a great lunch there and enjoyed olive oil tasting (and buying!). Would love to go back, maybe in springtime.

Incredible, Peaceful Getaway

This was a first for us, to stay on a farm. We always go to the coast. What a fabulous change of pace! The farmhouse is charming and very comfortable. It is so much fun feeding the chickens, geese, and turkeys that roam all around freely. And the African tortoise is huge. Kris, the host is wonderful and friendly. Will we stay here again? In a heartbeat. And we will recommend this wonderful home to our friends.

Relaxing environment

The farmhouse was the perfect place to to stay in the area. The farmhouse had everything we needed. Kris was easy to get a contact if we needed anything. The location was great for wineries or just checking out the area. Having the farm animals wandering around was an added bonus.

Everything I expected...but better!

We could not have been happier with our stay! It was everything the listing described, but the experience added up to so much more than the sum of its parts. The cottage was private, well appointed, squeaky clean (even during rainy weather), and the kitchen was fully equipped. Great shower and very comfortable bed. Kris, our host, went above and beyond to make this stay special. She met us upon arrival and gave us a mini tour. Hard to complain about snuggling with baby goats, meeting the horses and making friends with their dog and a specific goose with a lovably spunky personality. Our cottage had eggs from Kris' chickens in the fridge, a bottle of their homemade wine, homemade butter and jams, all followed by delivery of a loaf of bread fresh from the oven. Kris was so nice, warm, and welcoming. We awoke each morning to roosters letting us know it was time to get moving :) It may not be everyone's thing, but we loved it! The roosters and chickens waited for us and came running over to get fed as soon as we opened the door. Our last night there, Kris took us around their farm and we hung out with all the goats, geese, the gorgeous turkeys, the giant tortoise, and went inside the hen house. This is a working farm. It's dirty and noisy (but I love animal noises), the roads aren't paved and it's pitch black and silent at night. It was the complete antidote to city life and we loved every moment and every animal from start to finish. HIGHLY recommended!
