EXCELENTE OPCION
El Personal del hotel es muy amable, fui en plan familar y la experiencia fue extraordinaria. Las instalaciones de la habitacion seleccionada esta bastante buenas. Escogimos la opcion de CENA que ofrece el Hotel, la comida estuvo muy rica y abundante. Por si se tiene alguna duda el espiritu del hotel es 100% mochilero. De Excelente gusto y vibra. De igual manera el personal que atiende te da todas las indicaciones y recomendaciones posibles de que hacer en los alrededores. Tienes unas excelentes areas comunes, con vista al Lago.

El ambiente relajado de las areas comunes con el lago al fondo es lo que me hace regresar, y claro el precio del hospedaje. Los desayunos aún no me terminan de gustar, las tortillas son muy malas y el tiempo para servir un sencillo desayuno es demasiado tiempo, he probado las cenas y esas si son deliciosas. Me gustaría que la parte del ingreso estuviera más limpia aunque entiendo que es difícil porque es área pública pero hay días que el ingreso al hotel se ve muy sucio.

Es la segunda vez que como en el restaurante y la comida se tarda mucho tiempo, esperé 45 minutos para un desayuno que eran 2 huevos revueltos.

Me gustaría iniciar con lo que me gusto; el lugar es increíble, muy acogedor, tiene una vista muy bonita y sus cabañas son perfectas; lo único que me ha disgustado y que me parece terrible y muy importante es que parte de su personal tuvieron actitudes RACISTAS, deberían poner enfoque en la gente que contratan ya que son extranjeros, el nombre de una de ellas es Andrea y otro joven, quienes se encargaron de ignorarnos, al momento de solicitar servicio en barra, la atención era de mala gana y lo peor es que pensando que al comunicarse en inglés no entenderíamos, juzgándonos por nuestra nacionalidad, eso nos hizo sentirnos incómodos. Ojalá el dueño de este lugar pueda validar estos temas tan delicados, a diferencia de estas personas, me gustaría hacer mención para dos chicas que nos atendieron al día siguiente, totalmente lo contrario súper lindas, súper amables entre ellas esta Jade, quien nos apoyó para la celebración de un cumpleaños.

Hola Jessica, soy Jade. Empiezo diciendo que lo siento muchisimo por lo que paso y que podian sin duda hablarme de este hecho directamente aqui en el hostal, habriamos intentado seguramente entender la situacion mientras que pasaba. Estoy personalmente pendiente de los voluntarios que seleccionamos, asi que puedo decir por cierto que nadie aqui es racista, termino muy fuerte a utilizar y seguramente inapropriado para describir cualquiera de mis voluntarios. Puede ser que alguien no trabaje muy bien en la barra y deje clientes esperando, puede ser que alguien no tenga la actitud correcta siempre, y por esto pido personalmente disculpa. Pero etiquetar a una persona de RACISTA es demasiado, hasta hay un articulo del codigo penal que habla de difamacion al utilizar esta palabra, asi que tal vez por situaciones futuras les quiero aconsejar, antes de escribir PUBLICAMENTE ofensas tan graves, pensar en hablar con los encargados personalmente y entender que todos somos humanos, hasta ustedes, y seguramente fue un malentendido. Suerte con sus viajes futuros.

La gente que usa las instalaciones es cerda hasta no poder, tiradero de envases por todo lado vasos en el suelo tazas usadas como ceniceros. El internet inservible de no haber tenido datos incomunicado.

Gracias por tu feedback Michel. Desafortunadamente no podemos elegir como se portan nuestros huespedes, aunque siempre esperamos que la gente comprenda el respeto de los lugares y de los demas. Nuestro equipo hace a lo mejor para guardar un lugar limpio y acogedor. El internet normalmente funciona siempre, cuando hay muchas personas conectadas tal vez un poco mas lento, tenemos dos routers para no cargar solamente uno con demasiadas conexiones y a la recepcion siempre somos felices de ayudar a los huespedes que necesiten conocer las contrasenas de los dos. Seguimos siendo un pueblo muy chico en el lago, aqui seguramente la red (asi como la electricidad) no funcionan con la misma eficiencia que en ciudad. Te agradezemos haberte hospedado con nosotros y suerte con tus viajes futuros.

Excelente alojamiento en Santa Cruz La Laguna
Muy buena experiencia! Mi esposo y yo nos alojamos en La Iguana Perdida al inicio de nuestra luna de miel y todo estuvo excelente. La gente que trabaja es muy atenta y amable, la comida muy rica, precio justo. Buena ubicación en Santa Cruz y preciosas vistas desde las áreas comunes y comedor. Volveríamos otra vez!

This is a chill spot to stay at Atitlan. Nice views from their well accommodated and large deck space. They have a happy hour with cheaper drinks, but aside from during that time the beers are a bit on the pricey side. However, in addition to gallo they have a pretty good selection of some finer brews. The staff was friendly and able to offer some good information about things to do at the lake. They had a party on Saturday night which seems to be the usual routine for them- a big dinner and lots of music with some dancing- a fun crew was there. People come from the surrounding towns to the iguana on Saturday night for the fiesta.They also have a pool table that is not in great condition, but is free to play nonetheless. In the morning they had some freshly baked scones which were excellent. Our shower was at first cold, but after letting them know they replaced the gas and I had the best shower I have ever had in Guatemala, very hot and great water pressure. Our room was very clean and comfortable. They seem to be very eco friendly as well here. One word of warning- when checking out one of the staff claimed I had not paid when in fact I had paid through Expedia and he actually charged my friend part of the room fee. They were able to sort it out and refund the charge, but it seems that you get a better rate with less confusion if you just call them or use their website to book directly. Overall this was a great place to stay, and I would happily stay here again.

We enjoyed our stay of 1 night! We signed up for the dinner which was really good and fun. Almost everyone at the hotel attended the group dinner. There were animation, games and a quiz. Would definitely recommend to stay there if you are in Santa Cruz.

Loved my stay at the La Iguana
I had a beautiful stay at the La Iguana. I loved the room and the hammock on my balcony. I really liked the atmosphere there. The yoga classes and the sit down family dinner at seven. Great food and a very nice way to meet fellow traveler’s. The only negative thing I can say about my room is that the walls are paper thin and there were moments I felt that the guest next door very in my room chatting along!

Notre chambre était tout simplement magnifique ! Nous n’avons pas l’habitude des hostels, alors nous recherchons plutôt la tranquillité et nous avons pu avoir le meilleur des deux mondes à cet endroit. Les soupers de type familial sont délicieux et permettent de rencontrer de nouvelles personnes et d’avoir de belles discussions. Il y a des activités prévus tous les soirs ce qui est super! Possibilité de plusieurs activités dans le jour aussi (plongée, yoga, training, sauna, etc.). C’est donc un endroit super dynamique, mais permettant aussi d’être au calme en observant la vue simplement. Tous les gens étaient super gentils et accueillants. Nous avons bien aimés notre séjour!

Best Hostel
This hostel was great! While I don't stay in hostels much, this was the best I've experienced. The staff are great, the family dinners are a great way to meet people and there's always an event in the evening where people get to socialize. I stayed in a private room which was clean and spacious although had to share the bathrooms which was a bit more inconvenient given my room needed a ladder to access it. For me being a bit of an introvert and needing a push to make friends this was the best place for it. The staff and people were the best part of this place.

Diving Lake Atitlán
Went for the scuba diving, amazing staff and a great dive experience. Dive instructor was awesome and very helpful, making the experience that much better. Everyone was friendly and the food was better than expected, with the communal dinners being quite good. Little noisy into the evening and at night but not bad enough that it's difficult to sleep.

A pretty place but lacking some care
The hostel itself looks lovely and welcoming when you first arrive. The staff are friendly and helpful and the place has a lovely peaceful air to it. The family dinners were also well run and lovely getting everyone together at big tables. The longer I stayed the more issues came to light though. They are small things but make a world of difference. 1. Our room had no door handle which was painful when there's two people and it will swing open if you don't lock it from the inside or outside. 2. Showers were lukewarm at best and the weather here just isn't warm enough to make that a nice experience. 3. Food in the restaurant was average and my order was forgotten or mixed up frequently. 4. Room just wasn't comfortable. There was no where to hang wet towels, bed was like a rock and walls were paper thin to the room above and next to us.

La Iguana is a melting pot of travelers from all across the lake and a great place to stay for one night or one month. The staff is wonderful, the food is delicious, and the Saturday night “family dinners” are an experience I will never forget!

Private room lovely room, buzzing environment
I stayed in a lovely private room with a balcony overlooking the lake. But there are many different options and ways to travel which would make your experience very different. This is a hostel, so it's busy and buzzing, the restaurant generally packed and you can't even get hot water before 8am, so not great for a morning coffee drinker. The staff are super busy, but very friendly and the atmosphere is nice. The yoga classes are lovely and the location for Santa Cruz ideal.

Great quiet spot
The staff is great, friendly and always helpful. Location is fantastic just opposite the arrival pier. I had a single room, basic, but comfortable enough, shared bathroom, but clean. Better than what you find generally in most hostels. Barbecue on Saturdays, vegetarian option available, and real nice. There's quite a few travelers staying here so it's always a fairly busy place where you can meet new people, with interesting stories.

Stay here! But make sure you're vaccinated first..
Absolutely loved our stay at La Iguana Perdida - we wish we had stayed longer! The location is amazing - right on the lake and surrounded by nature. The food and drinks at the restaurant are delicious and affordable. The only thing we didn't feel comfortable with was that covid precautions were basically non-existent.

We loved it except the electricity was out for 24 hours and there was no hot water for the shower our entire 2 night stay.
