My wife and I stayed at a quaint, nostalgic beach house in Santa Barbara that felt like a classic, private seaside retreat. Even though it was quite old, it had a modern, homey feel and was conveniently close to the beach and boardwalk. Overall, it was just a great and peaceful experience.

A lovely and excellently-maintained apartment in Santa Barbara's charming West Beach neighborhood, close to the beach (one block) and convenient (five blocks) to the neighborhood grocery and wine stores.I've been coming to Santa Barbara regularly for the past 14 years, but I now schedule my trips around the availability of this particluar unit. This was my second visit, already, and I'm eager to book a return visit.

Great little cottage

We had a nice stay (3 of us). It was perfect in that my daughter had her own space with a daybed. The area is amazing and close to everything but on a nice quiet street. Perfect amount of space for us.

Wonderful!

Captain’s Cottage was perfect! Really well located-one block from the beach and two blocks from State Street. It was as cute as it looks in the photos. Great little backyard. Nice, big bathroom. Extremely helpful and communicative property . We loved our stay!

Thanksgiving Family Trip

The cottage was perfect! Clean, comfortable and a perfect location. Everything was within walking distance. I highly recommend the cottage and can’t wait to return. We liked it so much we booked an extra night there at the end of our trip!

Lovely place

We absolutely loved everything about this property. Location, charm, privacy, friendly neighbors and authentic Santa Barbara atmosphere. Perfect for a couple or a solo getaway. This is a great place to stay during Fiesta! Can't beat one block away from the parades.

Captain’s Cottage

We had a wonderful stay at the Captain’s Cottage. Great location and well appointed condo with everything you need. Walking distance to many great restaurants and the famous Funk Zone. Would highly reccomend this property. The bikes were a fun added bonus!

UCSB visit SB trip💛💙

Enjoyed our stay at Captains Cottage. Super cute. Awesome location. Great hot shower w good water pressure! Bikes were a nice … touch we rode thru town and up State St. Perfect size for me and my 2 kids. Hope to stay again.

I really don't want to write a review so that I can have Captain's Cottage whenever I want it. We came to visit family and Capain's Cottage was perfect for us. Every time I thought it would be nice if they had this or that I found it. Well stocked and great location. Will be back! Joyce

Beautiful cottage.

Could not have been a better location, so close to state street and literally around the corner from the beach. The cottage was beautiful, actually even better than the pictures and loved opening the French doors in the sunroom at the end of the day. Beautiful large bathroom, more than enough room for two and beautifully decorated combing touches of modern and vintage. Hoping to be able to stay here again soon

Perfection!

We absolutely LOVED our 1 week stay here. The location was perfect wit the beach, restaurants and shops easily walkable. The neighbors were just lovely... the man next-door brought us a bouquet of roses that he grows and the woman and her pup in the main house were sweet. The bathroom was spacious and bright. The kitchen was clean and had everything we needed.The beds were all comfortable. The living room was great for us all to curl up and watch movies at night. With family in the area we will definitely be staying here every time we come to Santa Barbara!

Captain's Cottage and VRoSB are tops!

I've been coming to Santa Barbara for many years, but this is the first time I was able to schedule the Captain's Cottage. Other places I had stayed previously in West Beach had been somewhere between 'pretty good' and ‘outright dismal.’ So when I arrived at ‘the Cottage’ I was immediately relieved to see how comfortable and attractive and private the place was. But, it was only as I started exploring the kitchen and the bathroom, it sunk in how well maintained and managed this place is. I don't know whom to credit, whether it's the property owner or the management company—Vacation Rentals of Santa Barbara. Undoubtedly both. No shortcuts anywhere. All the dishes matched and the silverware, again, was complete (not the usual rummage sale assortment). Similarly the bathroom was amply laid out and immaculately clean and well supplied, including dedicated beach towels. Outside the apartment is a private courtyard with outdoor dining furniture. And there are even bicycles in the garage with tires perfectly inflated and ready for one's ride along the coastal bike path. Usually one determines a date to travel and then hopes to find something in that time period. For me, I will check the schedule of availability of this wonderful destination and plan my trip accordingly. West Beach is my preferred neighborhood, because it doesn’t require having a car. If this apartment is indicative of the quality of VRoSB management, then the good news is there are many other options available.
