  • Welcome to Birds Eye View, a beloved Park Hill rental perfectly nicknamed for its sweeping ocean views through the pines. Perched high above Cambria, this pet-friendly home looks out toward Moonstone Beach and the Piedras Blancas Lighthouse and sits three blocks from Moonstone Beach, Shamel Park, and the Fiscalini Ranch Preserve. It's also a short, scenic 10-15 minute walk to downtown, an ideal setting for a family coastal vacation rental Cambria CA.

    Downstairs, you’ll find two comfortable bedrooms—each with a queen bed—and two full bathrooms. On the main level, a fully equipped kitchen flows into the dining and living room, along with a third full bathroom. Down the street from the beach and around the corner from downtown. Great location. My only complaint is that the basement rooms were a little musty, but such are basements.

Family get-away to Cambria

We were looking for a short family get away to Cambria and nearby Paso Robles and this home was in the perfect location, including views of the beach and mountains. Space was very nicely maintained, we had everything we needed, including plush towels. The welcome wine bottle was a super nice touch! I would recommend this place - good value and staff really helpful.

Best place

This is one of the nicest properties we've stayed in in our travels in CA and elsewhere. Comfortable beds, clean, spacious, well-equipped, beautiful views, quiet. We come from a very busy city, so the quiet was especially appreciated. It's also easy to get from this property to major tourist attractions, like the elephant seals, to hiking on the many trails in Cambria, and to the town proper for grocery shopping, restaurants, and window shopping. Check-in easy. We would definitely stay here again.

Beach House Getaway

Gorgeous home walking distance to the water. This is a tri level home, two downstairs masters, main floor had living room/kitchen/ third bathroom, upstairs had a loft area overlooking kitchen with two twin beds. Enclosed back yard area for pets.

Cambria-Birds Eye View

Great place for a week of remote work…and some play! We enjoyed the sea breeze, afternoon sunshine and views. The bathrooms are a bit dated, yet fitting for a beach home. We did have to ventilate the place when we first arrived due to an old area rug that made the place smell bad. The managers were very responsive and dealt with it right away. Overall, it was a nice place to stay and we’d do it again soon!

Reviewer Comments: We have rented this house many times and have enjoyed the view from the front porch of the yard across the street of two large skeletons sitting in lawn chairs and dressed in seasonal (green st Patty’s day outfits this time. Also view from back deck of moonstone beach and always the two cats in the window of house in back, sunning and occasionally fighting over choice spot in window. Our was clean & comfortable. Stopped up sink in upstairs br. attended to swiftly.

Three weeks near top of Park Hill

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: After staying in PH23 before, we were looking forward to our three weeks. We were not disappointed. Very enjoyable! Everything worked well. Very comfortable, great location, walk to the beach, near to West Village. We enjoyed many stops to see the waves and the birds at the state beach (near the Santa Rosa Creek.) Recommended!Concerns: Check out erosion and dirt on the wood walkway down to the dog run/back yard. BTW Nice crop of mushrooms down there.

BUT - we went on a hot/humid weekend. It is normal for a home in Cambria not to have air conditioning, but this home also did not have any ceiling fans or standing fans. We were all miserable the whole weekend. I suggest the owners replace the main room chandelier with a ceiling fan and provide standing fans in each bedroom.

Nice home and neighborhood but would not stay here again

There were positives and negatives about this rental. It is a nice home in a nice neighborhood, but we would not choose this property again. Pros: - Home is in a nice neighborhood and only a few minutes from Moonstone Beach. - The home was clean and overall cozy/comfortable. The beds are decent. - The property is considered pet friendly. Cons: - When we booked this stay we chose a property that was pet friendly. We indicated “yes”’we were bringing pets. There was not an option to specify number of pets. We brought our 3 well traveled dogs who have stayed in hotels and vacation home rentals all over. Literally 2 minutes after after entering the property we received a call from the property management company stating the neighbors called the owners to complain we had 3 dogs on the property and only 2 are permitted. They said this would be an extra charge on top of the pet fees and extra cleaning fee already paid. We agreed to pay the extra charge even though the pet fees already paid seem sufficient. They ended up charging more to my card for this than they quoted. This did not make it feel nearly as “pet friendly” as many places we have stayed and it was disturbing to feel we were being watched that closely to get a call within 2 minutes of arriving. - One of the advantages of a home rental instead of hotels is the ability to cook. This property has plenty of cooking utensils/plates/glasses etc, but there was only 1/2 paper towel roll, an empty foil roll and an empty ziploc bag box. So there was nothing to save leftovers and also no condiments at all. We had to go and purchase these things in addition to soap pumps for the bathrooms since all they provide is hotel like sample size wrapped soap bars. - The house descriptions makes it sound like the bedrooms are on the first floor and a loft for 2nd story. Due to traveling with elderly parents, was looking for bedrooms on a first floor. Turns out this is tri level and the bedrooms are “downstairs” not on the main level. - We were told at check-in that there is a landline as cell phones may not get good reception. We got little to no cell service in the home. This should be included in the description. - The bathrooms are outdated compared to rest of house, showers are very small and the sink faucets in all of the bathroom spray everywhere even if barely on. The water also takes a very long time to get warm. Overall, not worth the high cost for us again.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We enjoyed yet another fine stay at this house, Bird's Eye View, in late April/early May. We enjoyed the view during meals from near the top of Park Hill. I enjoyed walking our dog all over the hill and into the open space (Fiscalini Ranch Preserve.) Comfortable, pleasant. Might like a few better place to sit and read other than the living room.
