Our book club was excited about our stay in Belize and especially about staying in this house that looked so appealing from the photos. Upon arriving, we were met with what appeared to be a construction site. The property manager was there to show us around, we said that this house is still under construction, she denied that, as if our eyes were deceiving us. She went on to tell us that in this 5 bedroom house there was no washer and dryer and that if we needed laundry service, it would cost 20 per load. The house has potential (but definitely needs a laundry room) but it just is not ready to be available for rent. A couple of days into our stay there was a thunderstorm. We woke up to flooding in every bedroom, the stairwell, game room and hallways. Chandelier was leaking water on the stairs even when the rain stopped, making it extremely dangerous. There was a balcony upstairs that had no lighting, just wires hanging from the ceiling the entire way across. There was scaffolding and big tarps on the house and some bedrooms had plastic on the windows that was splattered in paint. We were also given 1 bath towel each for a 5 night stay and 1 beach towel each and at the end of the stay, the property manager counted all the towels. I have never seen such a thing. We were also told that there were no keys (the front door wasn’t accessible because they were still working on the front porch and there were workers there our ENTIRE stay) so we could not lock up when we left.
