Hi Alfredo. I am sorry to hear about your recent experience at our hotel. I will reply to your comments in order as you've mentioned a number of issues. I apologize for any inconvenience you encountered during our lobby refresh. I know this does not impact your stay but the renovation should be complete very soon. The cable outage during your stay was not due to the renovation but rather a problem with our cable provider. Either way we apologize for the outage. We truly want to provide our guests with a good experience and a huge part of that is making sure all of the items in room are in working order. We are a boutique hotel and this speaks directly to our room size. Our rooms are small and bathrooms are compact. We try to be as transparent as possible regarding room size to set the right expectations for our guests. I am sorry if the rooms were not what you expected. Housekeeping service is available for all guests staying three or more nights. A message was sent out at the time of booking and this is also written on the registration card signed at check-in. We would have provided service if requested. I am sorry if there was a misunderstanding. Our front desk team tries their best to provide service to all of our guests. If you would like to give us some details about what occurred during your interactions we would like to know. Thanks for giving our hotel a try and I am sorry we were not a good fit. Take Care.

For future guests looking at this review, note that we are about 13 miles from San Francisco International Airport. We are not far but we are not a "SFO Airport" hotel. Hi Daniela. Thank you for staying with us and I'm sorry to hear about your recent experience. I don't think the expectations for our hotel were properly set. Yes, our locaton is great and yes, our rooms are small and bathrooms smaller. We are a boutique hotel and we try to be as transparent as possible when referencing our room size online (rooms are listed at 130 square on our Expedia listing). We are also consistenly priced in the middle to lower level of all 3-star properties in the Union Square area (also with no urban/resort fee tacked on the price). Our hotel is a 110 year-old property with somewhat recently refurbished rooms. The property and rooms are consistently maintained but the "feel" of the hotel will not be the same as a standard/chain hotel. We are a great hotel to choose if you want to get a feel for a different era and are ok with having a smaller room in a great location. I am sorry we were not a good fit. Safe Travels!

Yes, our location is fantastic just 1.5 blocks up from the actual Union Square. We are also steps away from the Powell Cable Car Line, a few blocks from Chinatown, and a little further out North Beach & Fisherman's Wharf. The Cartwright is a classic San Francisco boutique hotel-meaning we are an older hotel with smaller, nicely appointed rooms. All of our hallways have ceiling pendant light fixtures but the colors of the walls and carpet are darker. We'll look into seeing what can be done to lighten the darker corridors up. Cheers!

However, I think our location, value, and service do set us apart from many of the other three-star hotels in San Francisco. Our rooms do not have a safe but we do offer safety deposit boxes for guest use at the front desk (no charge). Hopefuly you can give us a chance after our lobby renovation is complete. Take Care!
