Casa Grande

My family and I really enjoyed our stay here. The house was clean and spacious with plenty of views of the ocean. Check in was easy but finding the house was really hard, its off a small dirt road so we ended up getting lost a few times. Advice for anyone renting this home, after you check-in the drive is about 20-30 minutes to the house. Once you see a big white sign for Villa Marina Rv the small dirt road is coming up on your left before you hit the turn. You'll see a wooden sign almost like a cross and you'll head all the way down the road to get to the house. Also bring a sand wagon to help carry all your stuff down to the beach. I promise you you'll want to stay all day on the beach nothing beats that view. The water is a perfect temperature from dusk til dawn so its perfect for all ages. My family and I had a great vacation. Doug was a great host and very responsive when we had questions. We will definitely be coming back.

Relaxing Vacation

Very big and beautiful vacation home. We had a really relaxing weekend. The only downside is that there is no paved road to house and no running water. When we did call for water tank to get refilled, maintenance arrived pretty quick.

Awesome Relaxing Getaway!

The property was beautiful and the fact I could just walk maybe 20-30 yards and relax on the beach and even do a little fishing. I felt like I had my own private beach no crowds at all. Definitely fun to bring some sand toys. Property management was excellent about ensuring the water tank was full (never even came close to running out). House was clean and spacious everyone was very comfortable. Hope to stay again.

I have been renting this property for years. We go to San Felipe at least twice a year. I am so happy to have found Doug’s house. Doug is the best host! I won’t repeat all the good stuff that previous guests have said. Casa Grande is simply my happy place :) I always look forward to coming back. A quick note to those who are booking their stay at Casa Grande for the first time. Make sure you read the welcome letter. Doug and the property managers have done a great job spelling out every single detail about the house, the town and everything you may need to know. If you do your home work, you will know what to do if there are issues.

Would like refund...not as described

We didn't have any propane until last night (Saturday night) for our Thursday to Sunday stay meaning no hot water until the morning right before we left and even then it only lasted for one shower so most of us had to take cold showers the entire time if we could even shower at all. We also didn't receive any welcome email so took us hours to get someone out to open up the house. The alarm panel continued to beep literally every 10 seconds for the entire time making it very difficult to sleep. We couldn't ever get ahold of the property management company. We didn't have any running water until Friday because the water pressurizer was unplugged. The property was about 30min outside of town. Not 9km. We could go on and on. Overall the house was nice but everything else pretty much sucked. Also we never used the house Thursday. We cleaned the entire house and checked out about 9am Sunday. I have to imagine VRBO would at least attempt to take care of this trip or at least a night or two.

Amazing House w Amazing Views

This house is great for a big family or multiple families. It is in a great location right in front of the beach. The views from the bedrooms, living room and rooftop are stunning. We woke up to views of the sun rise every day. The area is secluded, peaceful, quiet, and very safe. The WiFi worked pretty well when we were there, and the TV also has good channels. The kitchen is filled with pots and pans and even a coffeemaker. The cleaning staff did a great job because it was extremely well cleaned. 100% would recommend. Our family can’t wait to go back.

Large beautiful house with all the amenities. Slept 10 people comfortably. Great place that the whole family enjoyed. Nice clean beach, very relaxing and not over populated. We will be going back!

Love, love, love...steps from the ocean day or night, exceeded all expectations!

Beautiful house, better than the pictures...there were 3 adults and 5 children, I never felt cramped. Kids had their PlayStation in the media room but barely played it because they were having so much fun outside, had directtv in the living room and Netflix so never felt disconnected (in the master use the DVD player for Netflix). Upstairs is beautiful having evening dinners using the bbq, (la vaquita market had pre marinated chicken and pork that was super delicious) the lights set the prefect mood even for the kids it wasn’t too dark. We put good use of the fire pit every night listening to waves crash, unforgettable. We had quads rented for our entire stay, there are no rules so all day all night we used them on the beach and on the trails all over the place. We had a unique and unforgettable experience that I don’t know where else can be replicated. The weather was perfect our entire stay day and night, love watching the high tide come real close to the house, and low tide so far out felt we could walk a half mile out...the water was warm day and night. The drive into town is about 15-20 min which we got used to real fast but honestly we barely went into town once we loaded up at Cali Max and la vaquita market for the week. Jamie the handiman was super helpful day and night...have nothing negative to say about this trip only that the jacuzzi didn’t work because the switch was burnt out but that hardly put a damper in our stay at all. There were no neighbors around when we stayed so we had the music bumping at night and no complaints...love, love, love it!!! Hope to return as soon as possible now that we’re familiar with everything it’ll be twice as fun. Thanks Doug for opening your home to the public! Thank you and thank you again!!!

We really enjoyed our experience here! It's a beautiful home with plenty of room for our large group of 3 families. As far as we could tell, most everything worked properly. We would have given this place 6 stars if the air conditioner to the 2 master bedrooms was working properly (and 6 stars was possible!). This made the rooms uncomfortable since the sun came up right into those windows. There were fans that we used at night and there was a new condenser that was ready to be installed. If I remember correctly, they were not able to install it due to a missing part they were waiting on. Jaime was absolutely wonderful and came over everyday to make sure we had everything we needed and fiddle with the ac to make it work for a little while. (The other 2 ac's worked perfectly, only those 2 rooms were affected.) A short walk through the sand to get down to the water. Warning: the sand gets extremely hot! Definitely need shoes for the trek. We used wagons to take things back and forth, we could have used one of our trucks, but decided not to since other vehicles were getting stuck in the soft sand and we didn't want to deal with that. When the sand wasn't masquerading as lava, it was wonderful! Soft white beachy sand that never got muddy and came off things fairly easy once dried. The water was easy to relax in, a nice temperature and soft waves. It did get choppy a couple times, but really didn't stop us from going in. Lots of fish jumping all day long and lots of pelicans flying around. We had the entire beach to ourselves during the week and only had far away company come Friday afternoon and Saturday. Overall it made for an amazing beach experience. Town is about 20 minutes away. We originally tried to shop at Calimax, but the selection was very limited and the shelves were only about half full. We ended up shopping at DJ's Market the rest of the time. They had a good selection of pretty much everything you could think of. Didn't try out any of the other grocery stores. We went down to the boardwalk on Saturday and had fun buying souvenirs and eating tacos. We went to The Taco Factory and ate and drank for less than $200 (USD) for 3 families. We never felt overly pressured to buy things and never felt unsafe while in town. We definitely recommend this home and look forward to returning!
