Renters Beware! Nightmare Host!
After years of positive VRBO stays, our experience with this host was deeply distressing. The home, while beautiful in pictures, was poorly maintained—damaged cabinet doors, the microwave frame fell off, defective freezer (with no shelves), mold in the bathrooms, no washer/dryer, minimal towels, and insufficient kitchen supplies for a large group. We paid substantial extra fees upfront for additional guests and for the use of the pool/jacuzzi, yet still faced daily intrusive messages and constant surveillance by the host through her outdoor camera system. In follow-up messages, this host questioned if my 81 y/o mother was present based on camera footage she had reviewed—very bizarre. We asked permission to host a family dinner one evening for my niece's new in-laws and were informed she would need an additional substantial deposit from us, of which a portion would be refunded as long as she didn’t find any concerns with the property. We politely declined. After our stay, this host bombarded us over 3 days with requests for a positive review, then turned around and submitted a hostile, dishonest review full of false accusations and misleading photos misrepresenting the property’s condition. She is now demanding substantial fees for reported damages, including for pre-existing issues, and threatening to pursue legal action for additional compensation. Her behavior was manipulative, dishonest, intimidating, and made a joyful family celebration wrought with anxiety. Think twice!
