Pro: Vibrant location with lots of shopping/restaurants in walking distance. Comfortable bed. Good water pressure on the rain shower.Cons: Hard to find parking and entry gate was always unlocked so not very secure. Not very clean: dirty frig, range top and other areas not well cleaned. Burned out bulbs and missing lighting fixture shades. TV worked in the AM but poor internet made watching any TV in the evening not possible. They did not have central air as described but a wall unit at the top of the stairs. Entry way not private with another unit and owner storage filling the space - no grill as described and not well maintained. Listing pictures did not match the reality of the exterior or interior and the bath/bed are up stairs which was not well depicted. Over all needs some cleaning and TLC. In the many years staying in SD, our least favorite property.

Everything with the apt was great. The only complication that we experienced was parking, which is a normal occurrence in residential SD. It is just something to be aware of when renting/visiting in SD.

We have been renting through VRBO for years and never had any bad experiences. This unit was terrible..unit had terrible odor which gave us headaches. Doors had locks but did not feel safe. Laundry is in a back alleyway..Spoke with owner who was not very helpful…kept sending me to rental agency. Finally was able to get credit (50% only). Would not recommend staying here. Not sure why VRBO lists this unit.

This property is more affordable than most SD rentals. It has an upstairs bedroom with a queen size bed and a living room sofa which could accommodate another person. The unit is clean and has basic kitchen appliances, tv, internet, and bathroom shower. Neighborhood is mostly residential but is walkable to stores, restaurants, a park.

Do not rent this property

Not at all as advertised. This is an added on apartment to a home. The unfinished counter in kitchen, causes your knees to abutt the open back of oven. Different furniture from picture. No wash/shower soaps, no coffee. Absolutely NO parking. We continuously had to park 10 to 15 minutes away. This property is a joke!

The communication and expectations of the host was seamless and easy to follow. There were a few concerns we had with the locks on the front door windows not latching correctly which should definitely be addressed by owner for safety reasons.

Pet friendly, but not people friendly.

Despite the great reviews I read before booking this property, unfortunately, my personal experience with the owner was not so nice. It started out ok, but I apparently asked too many questions.. he became rude asking if I am "slow or something" tells me I'm the most annoying person he has rented to asked my 13 year old daughter and I to leave( we ended up staying, but it was highly uncomfortable for the rest of our trip.) He actually excused his poor behavior with "I'm Norwegian, that's how we are" 🙄👎

GOOD LOCATION

WE ENJOYED BEING ABLE TO PARK IN THE DRIVEWAY SINCE THERE WAS NO PARKING. IT MIGHT BE BETTER IN THE OFF TIME SEASON. WE COULD HAVE HAD MORE TOWELS THEN WE DID AND PRIVACY ON THE PORCH. THE PICTURE SHOWS WE HAD THE WHOLE PORCH. YOU ALSO NEED TO PUT THERE ARE STAIRS TO THE BEDROOM AND BATH. THE WAY THE PICTURES WERE SHOW THERE WAS NO STAIRS AND A TERRIBLE BACK DOOR LOCK. I WAS NOT HAPPY TO SEE HIM COME INTO THE HOME AFTER MY HUSBAND LEFT. HE DID NOT KNOCK AND IT TOTALLY SCARED ME. HE IS NOT ALLOWED TO ENTER THE RENTAL ONCE YOU RENT IT. WE WERE RUNNING A LITTLE LATE WITH CHECK OUT, HE WAS TALKING WITH MY HUSBAND TELLING HIM. IT WAS OKAY HE DID NOT HAVE IT RENTED YET.

Ok experience

Good and safe location, nice little apartment to stay in for a week. One incident occurred while staying that is the reason for a 3/5. Our first day there, the owner of the place forgot or didn't know we were staying there and while I was taking a nap the owner tried to break into the place because he thought the door was locked from the maids. He did try to make it up to us with a bottle of wine, but the stay was a little tainted from the thought of someone trying to break in with a crowbar while we were just trying to relax. Also the beds were very stiff, along with the pillows and i woke up with neck pains each day. Overall, probably wasn't worth the price and there are better places out there.

It would be nice to block the bright lights beaming from the air conditioner upstairs in the bedroom area. The light sure is bright! Other than that, good accommodations!

North Park Cottage

This place is so cute! I’d love to stay here again. The patio was relaxing and the faux fireplace is a nice touch. Loved the upstairs bedroom and bath. Feedback for improvements: 1 dresser drawer was in need of reinforcement. I was afraid my clothes were too heavy for the bottom. More plants would be nice on the patio but that’s just me.
