We had a lovely stay here, shared the two gites with another family. Garden was ideal with the kids and the pool was great and ideal with the fence around it. We had a bbq one night too.The location is very quiet and a small cycle to local beach or bakery in St Marie and about 15-20 mins to other nearby villages like St Martins which made exploring easy for the soutern end of the island. We rented bikes from beach bikes on a nearby campsite which is a 700 m walk away.Hosts were very friendly and accomodating once we arrived. Kitchen was clean and pretty well equipped. The gite was warm in the evenings and mosquitos prevented us from having the windows open which is something to consider. Hope to return again.

This is a spacious and very peaceful home. The kitchen is well equipped and it was spotlessly clean. As mentioned in other reviews, the ceiling height upstairs suits it better to people that aren’t that tall and the upstairs of the property can become hotter. The property adjoins a second self-catering rental home with which you share the grounds and pool. Dominique was very friendly, helpful and accessible. It was great to have the barbecue set up for us when we asked. The fenced pool is brilliant and the garden is very large. There’s plenty of space to park on a separate gate-controlled driveway. We could cycle to the beach and a great bakery in less than 10 minutes. We wish we’d had 2 weeks and not one…!

Belle propriété arborée avec piscine partagée avec la seconde location. Location très propre (logement et piscine) , au calme, à côté de la piste cyclable. Accès à différentes plages en une quinzaine de minutes à vélo. Commerces à proximité également sur la commune de Sainte Marie de Ré.

Summer stay

Enjoyed a wonderful 2 week stay here. The owners are very nice, kind and discreet. Our side of this holiday house was perfect for a family with children. Teenagers might find upstairs area too low though it is cosy. Living area is compact - kitchen with large table, two arm chairs and TV. Bathroom and bedroom are spacious. Everything nicely decorated, new and very clean. Well-equipped with nespresso, oven, microwave, dishwasher, large fridge, lots of crockery, cleaning equipment, basic supplies etc. The coffee pods were a nice touch. And the kids enjoyed the Netflix! Only downside was no washing machine and quite small terrace. Trimming the hedge could make more space. Shared garden is spacious and beautiful and we often had pool to ourselves. Owner was very accommodating in setting up the barbecue whenever we wanted. We didn’t find the proximity to the neighbouring villa an issue, as the terrace has high hedges. Bugs weren’t too bad but we did have to keep windows closed in the evenings. A couple of big spiders outside but nothing more than would expect in such a location. When it was hot, fans would have helped. Location is very peaceful as away from the main villages, though few amenities in walkable distance and many places too far by bike with kids. Les grenettes beach is close by bike and Les grand joncs is possible. The longer trips we did were great adventures though. Overall we had a very peaceful stay thanks to the lovely house, quiet location and nice owners.

Fabulous stay

So we stayed in the cottage closest to the swimming pool. It was pristine clean, quite spacious for a little cottage, very modern and we found to be exceptionally comfortable and in fact, very private. Location is perfect - literally on the main cycling route, in the woodlands, very quiet but close enough to everything. We hired bikes and cycled everywhere. Our 2 little daughters loved the pool and it was a bliss with the temperature of about 30+ outside. The landlady is lovely and very helpful. A couple of things to mention: yes, the ceiling on the top floor is very low, but as our girls are so young that wasn't a negative either for them or for us. We wished we had a kitchen towel and a soap on arrival, but that wasn't a Biggie. And there's no sofa in the kitchen/ lounge, just 2 arm chairs. But that was enough for the kiddos to watch TV, we didn't mind as we spent all of our time sitting outside.

Wonderful stay.

Lovely accommodation- small but had everything we need. The upstairs bedroom has a low ceiling . I would say if you go in summer take a fan and mosquito spray. Hiring bikes highly recommended and leave the car at home. The grounds and pool were amazing - spent many hours there. Loves the island we spent hours in there

Kleines Häuschen auf sehr schönem Grundstück

Wir hatten zu viert einen sehr schönen Aufenthalt auf der Île de Ré. Die Unterkunft ist klein, ohne abgetrennten Wohnraum und hat für die Kinder -wie beschrieben- eine offene Empore. Das Grundstück ist sehr schön, groß und sehr gepflegt. Der Pool ist toll! Die Vermieter haben ihr Wohnhaus auf dem gleichen Grundstück und sind sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit! Zu unserer Aufenthaltszeit waren in den Abend-und Nachtstunden sehr viele Mücken da, die dann auch das Schlafen erschwert haben, was aber jahreszeitlich bedingt sein mag. Wir empfehlen diese Unterkunft und ihre netten Vermieter!

Très bien mais attention....

Gite très agréable si l'on occupe que le rez-de chaussée, après avoir fait la chasse aux fourmis, aux araignées et aux moustiques. Le jardin est très bien, au calme. Les propriétaires sont très discrets. L'étage qui comprend 2 lits en 90x190 peut convenir à des enfants n'ayant pas plus d'1,50m, hauteur maxi sous plafond. Il n'est pas précisé dans l'annonce que les deux gites sont complètement mitoyens, heureusement que l'isolation phonique est très bonne. Les 2 terrasses sont séparées par une haie. Les possibilités de rangement dans la pièce à vivre/cuisine sont inexistantes (aucun meuble hormis la table, car les meubles de cuisine sont remplis avec la vaisselle), dans la chambre à coucher, il n'y a qu'une petite commode, insuffisant pour 2 adultes. Nous avons tout de même passé un bon séjour.

Very pleasant stay

We had a great vacation in Dominiques Gite... the garden and pool a really great and offer more roominess than many other accommodations. The flat is clean, very nicely decorated and offers enough room for 2 adults and 2 kids. The location is excellent... close to a bakery, St. Marie de Re, St. Martin de Re and La Flotte... all very nice villages. What is so great about Ile de Re is that almost everything is in reach with bicycles, supported by excellent network of bicycle-paths. Communication and service by Dominique and Jean-Luc were very prompt and pleasant - We will surely come back!

Beautiful spot, clean and functional

Hosts were lovely people. Only 2 minor remarks, both gites are attached to each other, we went with friends so fine for us but better to know. Pool has now a barrier around it and the better beach if plage des grennettes is about 1.5 km. We would go back to stay there

Lovely quiet gite with fantastic pool

The property is very clean and modern, recently refurbished. It is not huge but comfortable with quality fittings and furniture everywhere. The main bedroom has a big bed (queen I think) and outdoor access via doors but no other window so you do need to leave open for air at night. A fan would be great. The only comment would be more clothes storage would be a benefit throughout. There are a couple of shelves and hanging but no drawers. Upstairs is two singles with a very low ceiling. Ideal for kids but adults would need to mind their heads. The bathroom is lovely, big with great shower and toilet is seperate. Bedding is not provided and needs to be paid for additionally which was fine but a surprise 105Euro. The patio, pool and garden are a joy. Great size pool. lovely eating area and access to a BBQ on request complete with charcoal. Dominique as a host was extremely accomodating but never intrusive. The house is 15 min cycle from the best beach and market at Bois Plage and 5 min cycle to bakery and shops at St Marie. 15 min to LaFlotte and 20 to St Martin, all lovely flat traffic free rides. We loved it , fab weather, fab house, great host and lovely island. Hadn't been for years but will be back, Andy, Sarah, Rowan and Charlotte
