The apartment was clean, cozy, and compact, check in easy, getting the key from a lock box. Parking in front was easy and secure, on what seemed like an alley across from the backs of the buildings higher up on Main street. Small kitchen well-equipped with pots and plates, microwave, utensils, coffee maker. The owner was friendly and communicated well. Bed was comfortable enough, maybe a bit hard. Looking at the pictures in the ad, it seemed a nice view out the window, and I got the impression that just out the back door you could walk out and through the forest of trees down to the stream. No, the terrain is too steep for easy walking, and climbing back up would be a challenge for anyone. The instructions for rental did state quiet hours since the building is old and sound travels easily through the walls. For the most part the other tenants were considerate and quiet hours were pretty well followed. The problem was having a downstairs apartment, all sounds from above were transmitted unfiltered. Even normal level talking upstairs was heard clearly in our downstairs rooms. Every footstep upstairs was heard easily, and if the person was big, they were fairly loud. The roller suitcase, all the way across the floor. On vacation we were hoping to sleep in in the morning. But with early risers above us, even one morning before dawn, sleeping in wasn't a possibility.
