  • Finca Retama, a 200 year-old Andaluz Farmstead, nestles in an idyllic setting within the tranquility of the Serrania de Ronda. Offered for rent is a beautifully restored 3 bedroom 2 bathroom (1 en suite and 1 family bathroom) traditional farmhouse apartment (sleeps max 4 adults and 2 children). The family friendly self-contained holiday homes are set in 8 acres of private arable land with its own woodland bordering a pretty stream and are accessed along its private 200m drive. The apartment is the top half of the farmhouse and the owners occupy the bottom half. The picture of rustic Spanish life is complete yet you are only a few minutes from the historic and picturesque town of Ronda, Inland Andalusia.
    Also in the grounds is a high-specification 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom self-catering Spanish holiday villa (sleeps max 4 adults and 1 child) which is listed separately.

    The graceful and spacious vacation let is very comfortable, has all the mod-cons ( including central-heating and free wifi) and is available throughout the whole year.

    The internal layout has been thoughtfully devised: in one wing is a large double bedroom (with superb views) and its own en-suite bathroom. This can be completely isolated from the rest of the for a peaceful parental siesta!
    The sitting/dining room has satellite TV and DVD player. In addition there are two more bedrooms: one double with twin beds (which can easily be joined together to form a double): and a single room with bunk beds. (The bottom part of the bunk bed can be used by an adult if needed.) Both have access to the terrace.
    A separate family bathroom serves the rest of the let. The fully equipped kitchen has a four ring hob, separate oven, large fridge, washing machine, kettle and toaster and all the usual plates and pans expected in an upmarket self catering holiday let.

    The extra large 15m+ pool (biggest and warmest private pool in the area!) is fully fenced, landscaped and private to the whole estate. (Shared with the other rental and the owners.) The luxury self-catering vacation rental is tastefully decorated to a Moorish theme with plenty of Berber rugs, high quality hardwood furniture and fittings.

    Some of the walls are a metre thick (and far from straight); exposed wooden beams are everywhere and through some of the doors you must duck…especially when entering the private terrace which overlooks this fruit farm.

    BBQs on the spacious, private terrace are one popular dining option. Here provision has been made for ample seating... not forgetting the superb views across the valley to the mountains which one can see changing colour as the sun goes down.
    Ideal for the cooler Spanish months is a luxurious 'mini-spa' containing a superb 5-person Finnish sauna and a mini-gym. Imagine returning from your hard day's activities in the knowledge that a pampering awaits. This private facility is unique for holiday homes in the region.

    Although Fincaretama is nestled in a bucolic valley in the countryside we are only a ten minute drive from the fabulous town of Ronda and its charming white Andalusian villages scattered all around. With three Natural Parks on their doorstep, our rentals make an ideal base for a wide variety of activities including horse-riding, nature walking, rock climbing, mountain – biking, bird watching, caving…and much more besides.

    In fact you could not choose a more central location from which to enjoy sightseeing in the famous Andalucian cities of Cordoba, Granada, Seville, Jerez, Cadiz and Malaga. Also, not too far away, are the coastal resorts of the Costa del Sol and the unspoilt sandy beaches of the Costa de la Luz.

Tranquilidad

La estancia ha sido maravillosa, hemos disfrutado mucho. La casa está a 10 minutos de Ronda y en pleno campo. Los caseros han sido muy familiares y nos hemos encontrado como en nuestra propia casa.

La casa estaba limpia pero no tenía ni recogedor ni escoba,el agua caliente no existía y si venía de repente salía frío de repente ardiendo que te quemaba,el acceso a la casa es malísimo unos caminos de piedras y si venía un coche de frente tenías que dar marcha atrás,la tele también regular no se veía la mayoría de los canales,Julia muy agradable con los niños y con nosotros pero no volveríamos a repetir

Lovely stay full of rustic charm

We had a lovely stay here. The hosts were very friendly and helpful and the property is remarkably well restored considering its age. The pool and surrounding garden area is lovely and well maintained. There is plenty to do in the surrounding area and we enjoyed exploring and visiting Ronda , the mountain villages and further afield. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. There were just two things that spoiled it. Firstly the driveway to the property is in a terrible state and desperately needs repairing. It is not suitable for cars.. really only for a 4x4 vehicle and we were constantly worried about the damage it might do to our hire car. Secondly the fridge and freezer were absolutely not big enough for a sleep 6 self catering apartment. We had to make daily trips to the supermarket as there was not adequate room to store food for more than one day and this meant our stay was not very restful. We did not see a gym or fitness suite but it was a little hot for that anyway. We did not feel the finca was luxury as stated on the online listing but it was comfortable and we very much enjoyed our stay. Big thanks to Nick and Julia for all their recommendations of places to eat and visit and for lending us after sun when the sun got too much. Thank you very much for having us.

Lovely Farmhouse

The farmhouse is about 11k from Ronda in a secluded location. Swimming pool is nice and big and accommodation on first floor where we stayed is self-contained and quaint with a sun terrace on the first floor.

It is a beautiful rural property. The location allows you to easidrive to Ronda and surrounding tow

The apartment is spacious and comfortable. The host is helpful with information about surrounding towns. The only recommendation for the host is to purchase an additional water heater for the apartment. The supply was unreliable during our stay. Otherwise, all stars!

Perfect base for exploring Ronda and the amazing local landscape

We had a fantastic six day stay with our three teenage children who made great use of the huge pool. It's very close to wonderful Ronda and really well located for exploring the nearby gorgeous Sierra de Grazalema. I can't get the star rating to work above but can give it five stars!

Lovely Cottage, surrounded by natural beauty and close to great food and culture!

We absolutely loved our stay on the rural property with beautiful views, amazing wildflowers, lots of space and comfort. Nick and Julia are great hosts and their advice made our stay very enjoyable. We will be back someday!

Excellent for families with small children

Julia and Nick are absolutely marvelous hosts and made us feel very comfortable and welcome. They have lived in the area for fourteen years, so their knowledge of the area is excellent and they are happy to share. The farmhouse is a five minute drive to Ronda and close to sites as well as shops. Very quiet, nice pool area and ample parking space. Sleeping was comfortable, hot water at all times and a fully functional kitchen. We have two small children and it definitely fit our needs. Will hopefully be heading back there in the near future

Amazing place, fantastic visit, highly recommended

We stayed for a little over three weeks, late February to mid-March, on the entire top floor of this beautifully and traditionally whitewashed house in the most beautiful countryside yet only minutes from the centre of beautiful and historic Ronda. What a great place. The apartment is equipped perfectly with everything from a fully functional kitchen to washing machine, TV, wi-fi, etc. Nick and Julia were amazing hosts and took us the local eateries and watering holes to show us what was around given that they would be away for part of our stay (as pre-arranged). We also got a chance to check out the adjacent but detached Casa Abuela, a charming two bedroom single story house on the property backing onto a great sized swimming pool - a beautiful and equally well equipped place to stay. At Finca Retama you get the best of all worlds. Relaxed rural living with stunning views from the green hills covered in olive groves surrounding the property and an amazing backdrop of mountains in the distance, yet so close to Ronda with all its bars, restaurants and multiple other attractions including its famous bullring and breathtaking gorge. A little further afield, but easily done as a day trip by car, you have everything from the coast with all its beaches and almost constant year-round sunshine, to cities like Seville and Cordoba or even Gibraltar to visit for tax free shopping. In summary, we cannot recommend Finca Retama or Casa Abuela enough. Great location, stunning views, warm and welcoming hosts. Thank you for a great stay!

A hidden gem in a beautiful part of Andalusia

A beautiful villa and farmhouse in a rural setting just north of Ronda, one of the most famous towns in Andalusia. The rural surroundings are special due to several bodegas within walking distance. Nick and Julia are great hosts, we had a relaxed and comfortable stay. The apartment is rustic and very cosy. Ronda is of course special and worthwhile several visits. Nearby are beautiful "pueblos blancos" Grazalema and Zahara, and the Natural Parc Sierra de Grazalema, only 45 minutes by car. We also did the Via Verde, a bicycle route on a former rail track near Olvera. We stayed during Christmas and New Year holidays. The atmosphere at that time of year in Andalusia is great for enjoying typical Spanish culture and events. The weather can be nice in winter too. It will be cold in the morning and evening, but in the afternoon when the sun was shining, we could walk in T-shirts. We really enjoyed every day of our stay!

FINCA RETAMA NEAR RONDA

Spent one week but wished I'd booked for more in the authentically rustic apartment. The tasteful interior satisfied my longing to get an "Andaluz" feel for the area whilst providing all the necessities required for a base to explore the incredible surrounding countryside & cities of Andaluzia. The pool was an inspirational start & end to the day. Our hosts provided us with some directions for great local walks in the beautiful countryside & also some good tips for some local tapas & restaurants in the evenings. Missing Finca Retama already!

Farmhouse Apartment is great value

Stayed in Nick & Julia's Farmhouse apartment - tastefully decorated, spacious, bedrooms with access to roof top balcony over looking stunning countryside, fantastic views of the stars. Very friendly family and kids, had some great games of table tennis with their boys. Lovely swimming pool to cool off in and relax by. Ronda is nearby, lots to see and do, plenty of tapas bars, excellent food & wine.
