  • Bonner Bridge is one of North Carolina's most well known man-made structures of it's kind (The Linn Cove Viaduct on the Blue Ridge Parkway is probably the most well known). This location makes for a great getaway at the Outerbanks to spend an entire day (and night). The location is popular for fishing and is ideal for landscape and astro photography. You can have lots of fun on some of the dunes, although getting the sand out afterwards is a big hassle. This is one of my favorite images from this location. I love the warm light tones and the shadows that create a contrast in the foreground sand. It is created from a single exposure with only minor modifications made to adjust overall contrast and brightness. If you are interested in wildlife, the Pea Island Wildlife Refuge is nearby and is a very popular location. Liked the game room, especially the pool table, allowed for all ages to enjoy. The theater was a nice addition for some. The rooms, etc. were clean upon arrival. Kitchen was very well supplied. Meredith as very attentive/responsive to any needs.The only negative was we didn't realize that you ABSOLUTELY HAD TO HAVE a 4-wheel drive or all-wheel drive vehicle to even get into the driveway or you get stuck because it is all sand, not just a coating of sand on asphalt or concrete. Thus we had to park our cars about 1/2 mile down the street at a Market with a parking lot that allows for that, obviously causing some inconventience.

The house is beautiful, clean, and spacious, as is the beach. We had 14 family members, all adults except for a 16 year old. We had tons of space to hang out together in the living/dining/kitchen area on the top floor and on the many decks on every level. Plenty of seating at meal times for all of us. Lots of conveniences - two dishwashers, two full-sized refrigerators, and a separate ice maker on the first floor.The bedrooms and bathrooms are comfortable, with ceiling fans in all rooms (love this!) and separate thermostats for all levels so that everyone was happy. There are big televisions everywhere, all with great internet access for streaming whatever you wish. The huge TV and surround system in the theater room are fantastic; we binge-watched a Netflix series during our stay. However, the recliners in the theater room do not actually recline. They are very comfortable as seats but the wiring for the electric reclining system appears to have been damaged at some point. The elevator was great for my parents who are in their 80's. Having said that, the driveway was extremely difficult for them. There is really only one parking spot with solid footing, and getting onto that spot is not easy. All other parking spots were in soft, deep sand and two of our vehicles got stuck in the sand.The private beach access was also difficult, as the back deck stairs have been blocked off so we had to go from the front door, down a dune and through deep soft sand to get to it.

Peace on the beach

Our stay at Sweet Home Caroline was just what we needed. It was very relaxing and peaceful. Meredith’s home was fully stocked with whatever we needed and beautifully decorated. We really appreciated the elevator for easily getting all the luggage and groceries in. Our favorite times were sitting on the top floor sun deck, watching the sun rise and the dolphins jumping. Sitting on the beach all day was perfection! The hot tub at night, under the stars was magical. Communication with the owner, Meredith, was very easy. She was always very quick to respond. There was plenty of room for our families to spend time together, but also have their own space when needed. The kids loved the game room and fishing on the beach. Listening to the waves in bed, at night, is something I really miss. We hope to stay at Sweet HomeCaroline again!

Perfect place

We traveled 3 families with 4 rising seniors for their last big hurrah together prior to senior year. This place was perfect! I would like to give a shout out first to Meredith the owner who was wonderfully communicative! I reached out to her twice, once that the propane was low and we had a replacement within the hour! The second was for an issue with one of the beds that I told her was not needed to be corrected during our stay, she had a furniture repair company out the same day! She was a highlight and perfect host! Everything you need is here! Fully stocked kitchen. The bottom floor was our teens hangout and they used everything from the home movie theatre to the pool table! Having its own kitchen/fridge was a life saver! The adults enjoyed everything about this place! We had our beach chairs and umbrellas delivered by Atlantic rentals and it was a flawless exchange. I would recommend this house to any group that wants to be together but not all stuck to one another!! Sunrises were spectacular, the waves were a bit big as a storm came in during our stay but we all had time in the ocean. I can’t say enough good things! We already miss it!

Beautiful House with Tons of Amenities

My family had a wonderful stay at Sweet Home Carolina! We used every space, and kids especially loved the game room and movie theatre. The elevator was perfect for the Grandparents in our group, and very helpful on move in/move out days. Every space of the house is beautifully decorated and lots of attention to detail for cleanliness and little extras. The kitchen was so well equipped to cook for our family group of 11 with clean and new kitchen essentials. Our week of weather was unfortunately rainy and cold, but we still had a great time as the house is so comfortable and cozy, yet with so many spaces for people to spread out. The hot tub was clean and perfect on our cold days, and the kids still played on the beautiful beach, literally right outside our door. Meredith, the property owner, was always quick to reply about any questions we had. And Phil, local property manager, was also available and helpful for questions as they were working on the driveway during our stay, and the walk to the front door now looks much easier than our sandy path. :-) We highly recommend this beautiful house and we look forward to staying again in the future!

Beautiful home

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful home. Meredith was a wonderful host and very responsive to our needs. We were disappointed that the house wasn't ready for us at check-in time and we had to wait 2 hours outside before we were allowed to go in. And when we were finally allowed to go in some areas were still not very clean. We spoke to Meredith and let her know our concerns and she did offer to have the cleaning service come back out to clean. And in case you didn't know, the house does have ants. Other than that hiccup, the stay was wonderful! The house was decorated beautifully! The beach and ocean are gorgeous! We loved the size of the house and we used every space. The game level was amazing! And perfect for a family with young adults. It was perfect to have family time and enough space to get away from each other as well! The elevator was awesome! The surround sound system was great! We loved how every floor had a balcony! We rated the house a 4 due to the check in issues. If that hadn't happened it would definitely be a 5!!
