  • The Hygge (pronounced hyoo·guh) House is a tiny taste of Scandinavia in Southeastern Minnesota.
    What is Hygge? In short, it's a Scandinavian way of living that focuses on hunkering down and creating a safe, comforting and warm place to while away.

    My husband and I hand built the Hygge House with your comfort in mind. We love being cozy and having space to spend together so when the opportunity arose to renovate our studio, we wanted to share it!

The Hygee House was exceptionally clean and well stocked and was the perfect home base for us. The quiet country setting was peaceful and we especially appreciated the local coffee packet to brew. This place had a great vibe for our mini vacation.

Mom and daughters Getaway

Home Away From Home

The Hygee House was warm and inviting as well as very clean. The beds were comfortable and everything you may need is accessible. I would definitely stay here again.

Cute place

The place is cute and was clean upon our arrival. Location is ok, not far from Mayo Clinic. The mattresses could be comfier, but other than that, communication with host was easy, instructions clear, and the place is cute and clean.

Room to relax

An excellent and relaxing retreat in between appointments and outings into Rochester. Perfect distance from city center to get away from city noise and congestion. The Hygge House manages to be both cozy and spacious at the same time. Layout is efficient and elegant in its thoughfulness. Communication both before and after stay was top notch.

Relaxing getaway

My partner and I spent 3 nights and felt completely relaxed and at ease. There's everything you need at the The Hygge House to make meals, watch movies, relax with a good book or play games next to the large windows. The yard is fully fenced for privacy and the chiminea was lovely for our fall evenings. We will absolutely be back! Thank you for sharing your guest house with us!

Great Getaway!

My husband and I were looking for a quiet place where we could escape city stress and noise with our pup and meet up with our son. Hygge House is in a peaceful area but still just an easy 10 minute drive from Rochester. It had a nice enclosed patio and little yard for our pup, and it had a kitchen that was well supplied (loved the old range/oven!) so we could fix our own meals when we preferred. Host was easy to work with and check-in/out was a breeze. Highly recommended!

Great place, clean and pet friendly!

This place is close enough to everything, but far enough that you wont hear any traffic or anything but birds chirping! It is pet friendly, but you would never know it because it is spotless and pristine! No dog hair could be found on any of the furniture, no smells, nothing! The fenced in yard is a great space to have a cookout, or use the firepit to relax. The host is accommodating and wonderful. They have thought of everything here!

Great place to stay!

Studio was very clean and comfortable. Situated just outside of town plenty close to all the amenities you would need. Becca responded quickly to any questions we had and her recommendations for things to do around the area helped make our stay even more enjoyable. Highly recommend staying here if you are visiting the Rochester MN area! We’ll definitely consider staying again in the future!

Perfect piece of home away from home

We were very comfortable and it was convenient for my mobility disabled husband. Communication with Becca was easy, with prompt replies. Ten minutes to the heart of Rochester.

Adorable retreat

Visiting Mayo-quick drive (10-14 min) from the vbro. Nice touch with a personal welcome & local coffee. Laundry - perfect kitchen - 3 beds - clean - it is on owners property - a number was given and she is easily accessible but we were given our privacy. Thank you for a wondered stay!

We had to at very short notice cancel our stay

We had to with very short notice cancel our stay due to a family emergency and they were kind enough to give us a refund. Not all VRBO owners would be so kind but they were and it was much appreciated at a very stressful time. Can't thank them enough for their kindness.
