Quaint...some cautionary notes

The property is suitable for families who don’t have concerns about allergies or stairs. The home was clean and generally well-kept. However, the bathroom toilet required frequent adjustments as it would continue running after use.The living room was quaint, though the furniture was unusually small—we joked that it was just the right size for our 18-month-old granddaughter. The bedrooms were comfortable, and we appreciated the availability of fans and the option to open windows for fresh air.Unfortunately, there was a strong smell of vape or marijuana in the living room and kitchen areas, which was noticeable upon arrival. While opening windows helped, two of them did not have screens, so for safety reasons we kept them closed. Because of the persistent odor, we would likely choose not to stay again.We did not use the kitchen during our stay, opting to eat off-site instead. Overall, the home was clean and functional, but the scent issue significantly impacted our experience.

Terrible do not stay here

Worst home rental experienceI have ever had. It is a downtrodden property. Stained sinks and shower, light switches didn’t work, outdoor stairs were rickety, stifling hot even though it was -10 at night, even the key lock box wouldn’t close properly. Worse though, my daughter and I were kept up all night by a screaming domestic disturbance downstairs. I left after the first night. Owner was very difficult to contact, said he was going to imitate a refund and didn’t. I finally contacted the company and was refunded less than half of the 5 day charge even though I was there only one night. Do not stay here.

DISAPPOINTMENT & INCONVENIENCE

This place is not suitable for a short term rental. The house is impoverished, owner is hard to reach and is virtually non-responsive, the house was COLD(the owner very sparingly controls the thermostat from his location), there were NO extra blankets or pillows, the owner KNEW we were in town for appointments at the Mayo Clinic and that one of us was very sick and didn’t offer to provide extra blankets when we told him that the house was STILL (for the 2nd night) Unbearably COLD. House is a fire trap waiting to happen with 1 small heater, poor exit route, and NO fire extinguisher. Toilet working poorly & overflowing. One bed wasn’t even laundered & remade after prior guest. House was terribly run down in every respect. We felt like we were in low-level tenement housing with minimal evidence of any of the hospitality,one would expect from an income-producing VRBO listing. We left to find a safer, warmer, nicer place before our booking ended and we still have not heard anything from the owner OR VEBO in response to our request for a credit for the unused nights. Terrible experience!!!!

Vintage Stay

Very clear and easy check in process. Parking in definitely a pain if you need more than one spot. No parking on the two closest streets. Very easy walk to Mayo Clinic. Very cozy place with vintage furnishings. Only downfall was there was no ice melter in the place to put down. Everything was glare because of a storm. Toilet will keep running until you play with the handle for it to stop. Even with that I would still stay again.

Please work on the steps

This was a great location in relation to the Mayo. I wish you would do something about the steps up to the unit. The gutter over the bottom step leaks and drips on that bottom step. It froze over night and when I went out the next morning I slipped on that step. I was able to catch myself but someone else might not. It was adequate for our needs. The landlord was very receptive to our needs. One last thing was the TV is not hooked up to anything so it was of no use. Overall for the price it was well worth it. The issues we had were fairly minor and we enjoyed our stay.

Mayo Visit

The apartment was perfect for what we needed. Great location, the walk to the Mayo Clinic was super easy. It was nice that our kids were able to have a little bit of their own space to stretch out in after a few long days of appointments. Much better than staying in a hotel. Being able to cook for ourselves was also a HUGE plus.

Great place for mayo patients

Perfect location to stay if you're visiting mayo! We walked back and forth. Very clean!! It could stand to be updated a little. Could use some more comfortable furniture in the living room but overall it was a great stay!!

Terrible Misrepresentation

This property is completely horrible. There were fingerprints and thick grime on nearly every surface, water stains, spider-webs, missing smoke detectors, and much more wrong. We have pictures of all the issues and we did not stay in the property; it was too disgusting and even dangerous. We have an open case with vrbo and hope to have this property de-listed as a misleading scam not worthy of the website.

Easy I. So many ways.

So easy to find and close to the Mayo Clinic. The space was clean and quiet. It is on the second story so anyone with trouble with steps may want another option. The water was nice in the shower with towels, shampoo supplied. Kitchen had a stove, microwave, frig, toaster, coffee maker to name a few appliances. Living room had a loveseat and chair and a small table for two. There were 2 bedrooms with 1 queen size bed in each and desk and dresser and also a twin bed in o e of the bedrooms. The beds were comfortable with bedding supplied. The apartment was warm on our cold climate in Minnesota. On the TV we watched Netflix in the evening. Price was reasonable. Restaurants and shopping all within a short distance as well as a gas station. Property owners were very responsive to all emails and messages.

Perfect for Mayo visit

Cute property with everything we needed. I'd stay there again in a heartbeat if I need to go back to Mayo for care. I would recommend earplugs if you're a light sleeper for the traffic. Actually, the traffic noise is fine, it's the loud stereos that made me use mine. Slept fine after I put my ear plugs in.

A good spot for our Mayo Clinic trip

My husband and I stayed here for our visit to the Mayo clinic and it was great. About a 15 minute walk at our pace to the Gonda building. The stairs are steep and made us a bit nervous when it was icy, but that's kinda of a side thought. We slept well on the bed each night and were plenty warm. The bathroom was clean. The kitchen is completely functional although we found ourselves wishing for a few more knives to choose from when we were cooking. Overall a great stay.

Clean, comfortable and homey. The property has easy access to Mayo, good restaurants and parks. Mark and Sara are great hosts! Very helpful and accommodating when we needed to extend our stay.

Great owners

Mark and Sara are very responsive to any needs. Check In was easy and the place is clean. If you are going to the MAYO clinic it is close to the property. I did see a few ants in the living room area but it was not a big deal nor were there many. I would not recommend a stay here if sensitive to cigarette smoke, the renters below smoke and it drifts upwards naturally and things in the apartment hold the odor, this is no fault of Mark and Sara’s; they contacted the tenants immediately about smoking. I had read the previous comments and also could not find the air conditioning unit or controls, perhaps a note about where it is would help. In all fairness I did not ask where it was because I assumed there was none. In all this place is a good deal and the owners are great people. They also do give a discount for MAYO patients which I have a lot of respect for.

Check in process was simple however the photos of the apartment are a bit misleading. Looks light and bright but has low ceilings and small windows. There is not air conditioning as is stated in the listing. The property owners were responsive when we had questions or concerns, such as the ant infestation. We picked this property because of it’s location near Mayo Clinic, while we were there, we were able to get our appointments completed earlier then expected, the property owners refused to even consider giving us a refund for the day that we no longer needed. They also offer a Mayo discount, and I mentioned while booking that was the reason for our stay, they did not respond with any information on how to get the discount, so we ended up paying the full amount.
