The Cabin on Fontana Lake
Lake Front Paradise in the Smokies
ALL ROADS & ATTRACTIONS OPEN IN THE AREA The Cabin, located on Fontana Lake bordering the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, is your gateway to adventure. Authentic and unique in its design, with beautiful hand hewn Douglas Fir logs set among the treetops, The Cabin offers a one of a kind mountain experience to share with friends and family. The lakefront property offers trail and dock access to Fontana Lake, a hidden gem of sun, fun and exploration. The area has an abundance of opportunities for skiing, tubing, swimming, hiking, fishing, boating, kayaking, mountain biking and birding. After all of that, The Cabin is your destination for some relaxation. The Cabin is 3000 square feet with 5 bedrooms, 4 full bathrooms,1 with a bathtub, and sleeps up to 14. The house has central air/heat and a fireplace. One bedroom is located on the first level with a queen bed and four bedrooms are on the second level with queen beds. In addition, two of the second level bedrooms have lofts with twin bunk beds. All the bedrooms have floors of hardwood, ceilings of tongue and groove pine, and large windows with blinds, allowing one to customize their desired level of light infusion. The second level contains a master bathroom with a shower and bathtub and another bathroom with a shower. There is a full bathroom located on the first level. Sheets and towels are provided with the rental, as well as a washer/dryer in the basement. The kitchen is fully equipped with a refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, utensils, plates and cups. An additional refrigerator is located in the basement and available for overflow needs. There are knives, cutting boards, pots and pans, and generous counter space to create your dining masterpiece. A gas grill is on the deck, along with two tables, for porch dining at its finest. The kitchen has a bar with seating for four and there is a large dining table that can seat up to 10. A high chair is provided in the basement. The living room is wrapped in antique heart of pine hardwood floors, with multiple sofas and chairs, surrounded by windows suspended among the trees. The space is warm and inviting, read a book, take a nap, enjoy a conversation. In the fall/winter months, the fireplace comes alive and embraces the room's mystique. There is a Flat Screen TV and DVD player for movie nights and necessary gaming endeavors. WiFi is available to satisfy the digital itch or simplify and unplug, the memories we make are the ones we live. A ping pong table is located in the basement for additional entertainment. The Cabin has two decks, one covered and one uncovered. The upper deck has magnificent views of the Smoky Mountains National Park and Fontana Lake. Rocking chairs, tables and additional seating, and a gas grill create a space where you can sip a cocktail, enjoy a meal, or meditate with the sunrise. The covered lower deck is awesome, a place for a peaceful rock or calming swing to the afternoon rain shower. The Cabin is located on Fontana Lake, a TVA controlled watershed. The lake is generally full from Mid-May until Mid-September, which we call lake season. Lake levels can fluctuate at any time, without prior notice or warning, and are subject to the discretion of TVA management. During the lake season, a floating dock is available and accessed by a lake trail. Please note that the mountain terrain is steep and there are over 120 steps to the lake, worth everyone no doubt. Kayaks, paddleboards and PFDs are available for guest use during the lake season. The last .5 mile into the cabin is located on a gravel road that at times can become uneven, rutted and bumpy. Please make sure your vehicle/s are capable of driving on this kind of terrain, and capable of handling inclement weather should it arise. Security cameras are on the premises at the entrances and the driveway. The list of amazing places within this geographic region is off the charts. A short list is a challenge to create with the abundance of locales worthy of exploration.
