David was an amazing communicator both before and during our visit, responding promptly and thoroughly to a lot of questions—thank you David! And overall, our group really enjoyed staying at David’s property.
As for the space, the patio was amazing and the rooms were nicely sized. I think the crew who stayed on the first floor were really comfortable. As for the room on the second floor, it can only be accessed via a very narrow metal spiral staircase (which I may have missed in the description) which was not perfect, especially when we were in a lightening storm and I was not comfortable traversing it. Also, the A/C on the second floor could not really keep up with the heat, and it was super hot, so that was a liyyle uncomfortable. The fan wasn’t working when we got in, but David sent someone almost immediately, and that was helpful. The first floor space with the long bar and room to lounge was lovely and worked well for our group. The building seemed like a standard Rio building and the neighbors we encountered were all very nice.
The location of the space made it very easy to get to all the different places we wanted to go. We did a small bit of walking in the early evening and that felt alright, but mostly we took ubers. I wouldn’t have felt comfortable walking in a smaller group in our neighborhood, or really any, late at night, but that seems to be how it works in Rio.
One highlight from our trip was when David hooked us up with his friend Adrianno to take us to a football game. We wouldn’t have had any clue how to find our way there or get tix or anything, and Adrianno made it all happen. That was an amazing experience.
