John, thank you for taking the time to write this review. We were disappointed that your stay didn’t warrant five stars given that it’s clear from our description that we do not have a washing machine or dryer (we sure do wish we could install them but there simply isn’t enough space). For future potential guests, there are a couple of great options for doing laundry that we list in the description. One is the KOA campground just south and across the river from us (during high season) and the other is in Ouray. They are both very accommodating. Also, if you plan to participate in water sports/go to the hot springs, you may want to pack multiple swimsuits, and/or you can wash them in the shower or sink of the guesthouse (where you’ll find laundry detergent as well as mild soaps for washing delicates). John, we hope your travels will exceed your expectations in the future. Be sure to check out the amenities in the description before booking to ensure they will have everything you need. It was lovely to host you and your guests again over the New Year’s Eve holiday, Laura. Thank you for the notes you left and for being the ideal guests, treating our home as you would your own and being kind and easy. We appreciate it and hope to welcome you back again!

William, we are glad to read that you enjoyed your stay, including the river park and cleanliness. We are disappointed to now learn that the noise bothered you. We wish you would have brought this to our attention during your stay as it would have been easily remedied. We encourage all of our guests to let us know if there’s anything at all we can do to make their stays more enjoyable, and we mean this sincerely. For the knowledge of future prospective guests, we do *not* have a shop in the garage below the guesthouse. During this stay, a handyman was building shelves for the garage. We kept his work to sunlit, daytime hours so as to not disturb our guests. As many other guests have commented, it is generally a quiet getaway. The highway is a half-mile away and the noise is minimal.

For the knowledge of future prospective guests, we disagree with the assertion that all you see when you look out the living room window is the gravel pit. When we look out that window, we see hundreds of giant ponderosa pines covering a mountain of red sandstone, and next to the house, one of our large, grassy pastures. We’ve never received a single other guest comment on the gravel pit, which we believe is doing important work of supplying elements for important projects as well as employing our neighbors. We wouldn’t move it if we could.
