    The Space:

    Hill House welcomes you with the charm and character you would expect from a traditional Yorkshire Dales stone cottage, thoughtfully refurbished to create a warm and comfortable countryside retreat. From the moment you step inside, exposed beams, stone features and inviting interiors set the tone for a relaxing stay surrounded by the beauty of Swaledale.



    The spacious living room is the heart of the home, offering a cosy place to gather after days spent discovering the Dales. Sink into the comfortable seating, enjoy a film on the Smart TV, or simply relax together and plan the next day’s adventure through the surrounding countryside.



    Just beyond, the large dining area creates the perfect setting for shared meals and long conversations. With space for everyone to sit together, it’s ideal for family dinners, celebratory evenings or relaxed breakfasts before heading out to enjoy nearby walking and cycling routes, market towns and picturesque villages.



    The modern kitchen is a welcoming space where everyone can come together, whether preparing breakfast before a day outdoors or enjoying relaxed evening meals after returning from the hills.



    A practical utility room sits just off the main living areas, providing space for coats, walking boots and outdoor gear after a day in the countryside. You’ll also find a washing machine and useful storage to help keep everything organised during your stay.



    Upstairs, the bedrooms continue the cottage’s calm and inviting feel, each thoughtfully prepared to offer a peaceful night’s sleep after a day outdoors.

    The Neighborhood:

    Hill House is located in the peaceful village of Low Row in Swaledale, one of the most scenic and unspoilt valleys within the Yorkshire Dales National Park and an officially designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Surrounded by wild moorland, traditional stone barns and miles of drystone walls, the landscape here feels wonderfully untouched, with the River Swale winding through flower filled meadows in the valley below.



    The village itself is small and quiet, yet home to the historic Punch Bowl Inn, a traditional stone pub dating back centuries and well known locally for its welcoming atmosphere and excellent food. Just a short drive away is the beautiful village of Reeth, famous for its large village green, independent cafes and the Swaledale Museum which explores the area’s rural and mining heritage.



    A little further east lies the historic market town of Richmond, one of the most picturesque towns in North Yorkshire. Dominated by Richmond Castle high above the River Swale, the town features cobbled streets, independent shops, galleries and the Georgian Theatre Royal, one of Britain’s oldest working theatres.



    The surrounding landscape is a paradise for walkers and cyclists. Quiet country lanes and trails lead directly from Low Row into the Yorkshire Dales, while nearby routes such as Buttertubs Pass have become famous among road cyclists for their dramatic climbs and sweeping views across the Pennines. The popular Dales Bike Centre is also close by, offering excellent cycling routes, bike hire and a well known cafe that has become a favourite stop for riders and walkers alike.



    The legendary Tan Hill Inn, the highest pub in Britain, is also within reach and a popular stop for hikers following the Pennine Way.



    Swaledale has also attracted attention from filmmakers thanks to its wild and cinematic scenery, with areas of the Yorkshire Dales recently used as filming locations for the latest adaptation of Wuthering Heights.

    → 20-minute drive to Buttertubs Pass, one of the most famous road cycling climbs in the Yorkshire Dales
