"Bedroom and bathroom were clean, comfortable and spacious and domestic staff very friendly. However - catering was terrible. I arrived to be told no evening meals were being served. There was no mention of this on the website, nor when I'd phoned the hotel a couple of days earlier to confirm my booking for a dog. The nearest eateries are 2 miles away. When I told the receptionist that I didn't have a car and had arrived by bus her reply was 'Well you can go back then, the buses are every hour'....

"Hotel name is not visible from the street. Parking on site was appreciated. Bar staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant was 'open' but the cook was not there. After a while they reached her by phone and she would be there in 15 minutes, and was told to take our orders and I paid for two 'specials'. "All the staff were friendly and welcoming. Our room was comfortable and spotless. Breakfast was great and included in the stay. Evening meals were some of the best I have had lovely. Absolutely excellent value. Not a modern soulless hotel but an older place with a friendly atmosphere."
