I'm sorry you didn't find the accommodations to your liking. It is advertised as a 'Rustic Cabin', but guests over the last 23 years have been loving it as is. The cabin is mostly made from post and beam log, with even the doorknobs being made of tree branch/root clusters which have been sanded down and fitted through the doors throughout the house. Not to mention the river rock foundation and fireplace. The entire cabin was handmade by the Steiner's, a historical family who still live on the mountain to this day. The cabin was built in 1930. The root/branch cluster doorknobs and naturally bent hand railings are some of the wonderful features in the cabin! Not to mention most of the current furnishings and bedframes were also made by them with some of the same natural log materials from the area. We have participated in the Stiener Cabin tour which takes place every year over the first weekend in August. Folks pay $300 a piece for the privilege of taking a walking/biking tour of about a half dozen Steiner Log Cabins within a few miles total. You get to see a lot of great craftsmanship and history. It's hosted by the Mt Hood Cultural Center in Government Camp. Lloyd Musser, the curator started these tours years ago and we've been on about 4 of those. I've met and spoke with many other log cabin builders, contractors, craftsmen and historian buffs who love the cabins and geek out over the hand-crafted woodwork. Do I ask my guests to fill out a Rental Agreement while they occupy our cabin, yes. 'Why'? Because I know most people are decent and respectful of other people's property. Some are not. In 23 years, I've had multiple instances where people have trashed the place, done damage to the cabin, the hot tub, or even trespassed onto my neighbor's property and stolen from their woodpile. We are pet friendly. There have been instances where guests have let their dogs run amok, scaring neighbors, pooping in their yards, etc. People have lied about the size of their parties and thrown huge parties. In every one of those cases I was able to curb the behavior or receive reparations for damages. Most of the time a simple conversation fixes everything once people are reminded there are actually consequences for poor behavior. Like I said, most people are decent, not all. I'm a bit old school and I like to see ink on paper so there should be no surprises. I have more to say but have maxed out the characters allowed in my rebuttal. Brad

I do regret the delay checking in. It was not expected. Housekeeper noticed a dry rot issue around the sink. While attempting to do a patch-up, it turned into a complete rebuild. New lumber, custom cut, sanded and then added caulking. He managed to do all this within 2 hours. Not ideal, but frankly, pretty quick fix. We're just now taking on new help, brand new housekeeper and we intend to get on top of some of these recent cleaning issues. Stove is being attended to today! I live 2.5 hours away and depend on hired help. New gal is there doing orientation as I write this! Thank you Vanise! Brad-owner.
