Luxury Stone Built Villa

Villa Saridakis is an oasis of calm and luxury about 15mins drive from the hustle and bustle of Rethymno centre. We stayed as two families for 11 nights and enjoyed every minute of it. The villa was very well equipped, spotlessly clean and offered flexible accommodation for both sun worshipping and sleeping. We had fresh eggs every morning from the chickens and made good friends with the cute local moggy - who we affectionally named “fleabag” - and the horse in the neighbouring field. The pool was large (and deep) with plenty of sun beds and there was also a pool house which was great for socialising in the evenings. Importantly there were three good Tavernas within easy walking distance. Maria was very kind and attentive and immediately responded to all our requests. If you are looking for a quality property a few minutes into the hills, this villa comes highly recommended. Thanks for a memorable stay!

Blissful stay

What a fabulous property could not have wished for better. Not keen on the chickens and they produced far too many eggs we couldn't give them away ! We did feel as though we had just been handed all responsibility for them which wasn't great to be honest. The villa is gorgeous though, we used the little pool house all the time. Only one improvement would be an information book on how to work everything as it was mainly trial error or texting the owner/manager which was a bit of a pain Would definitely recommend and we will be rebooking for next year.

A loveky spacious villa

We had a lovely holiday in this property and Crete. There were seven of us, aging from 15 to 53. Lots of space, clean and comfortable. Fresh eggs from the chickens werr great! The pool was amazing. Valia and Maria was so helpful. We loved Rethmenyo and went on regularly

Absolutely Fantastic!!

My partner, my parents and I stayed in this beautiful villa for 10 days recently. From the moment I booked the villa, Valia, from Home and Away was on hand to answer all my queries (and I had a lot!!) I was given Maria's (the owner) number so I could contact her when we arrived and we had a few conversations over WhatsApp when we landed and were travelling to the villa, so she could make sure she was there when we arrived. I'd been sent an email from Valia with links for directions to the villa which were so helpful as it was a link straight to google maps so there was no worry about us not knowing where to go. On arrival, Maria greeted us and showed us around the beautiful villa, introduced us to the chickens and Meow the cat, who we all became very fond of during our stay. Having fresh eggs every day was lovely too - thank you chickens! Maria had brought us some food so we didn't need to worry on our first day as we arrived late afternoon and wanted to settle in. She also gave us some homemade wine and raki (very good indeed). She then drove me around the small village and showed me where the 3 tavernas were. We went to the same one all the time as the service was good and the food was not only lovely but so cheap! They also always gave us at least 3 free dishes before any starters came out. Cleaners came twice during our stay and they were extremely thorough. On our last day we should have checked out in the morning, but I asked if we could stay on as our flight was in the evening. We were able to stay as long as we wanted, but just had to vacate the upper levels, which was perfect as we had plenty of space still. Maria came to say goodbye and gave us more presents. Rethymno town is about a 20 minute drive from the villa and there is a carpark about 5 minutes walk from the old town which is very reasonably priced. We used this all the time. Whilst staying at the villa any questions/issues I had I emailed Valia and always got a response within a very short period. One night I emailed quite late, expecting to get a reply in the morning, but she replied that night!! I don't recall ever having such great service and on behalf of my family I would like to thank Valia for exceptional customer service and Maria for being a fantastic host.

Extended family holiday

Arrived at Villa after 4.00pm as requested,cleaning still in process not able to get in until after 5 then no one there to meet us and show us around. Not a good start. Although the cleaners were very good very bad at time keeping in fact the last midweek clean never took place due to unforced problem to the cleaners family but why couldn't the owner have done it? The ground floor bedroom with only a fan was not really good enough. One last thing there are so many light switches hard to work out which switch does what. One or two maintenance issues . Overlooking these points our whole family had a dood Holliday. We did find eating out at the very local restaurants worked out cheaper than eating in.

Lovely Villa

We had a great holiday at Villa Saridakis. The Villa is spacious and nicely decorated. The pool was perfect for us, with a small kids pool to dip in too which was ideal for our 3 and 5 year olds but would probably be a bit deep for any smaller children. The bathrooms could use a bit of maintenance but were perfectly fine for us. Otherwise, fantastic villa, comfortable and well maintained. Both the Think Villa rep Valia and the property owner were very obliging. Valia responded to every message we sent almost instantly, and provided good recommendations and advice. We were greeted at the property by the owners who gave us lots of useful information. The villa has really nice grounds with fresh strawberrys, a vegetable patch you can help yourself to, and hens (you can have the eggs too). As well as this, a basket of vegetables was left outside the back door a few times during our stay, which is a really nice touch. Tomatoes were delicious! The location of the villa is great for the views, and the quietness (being away from the main town) but is about 15mins away by car from Rethymno up a steep winding road, which might not be ideal for everyone. The village has 3 tavernas which all provided a good meal with friendly family welcome, these are all a short walk (5 mins) from the villa which we found really handy. The only downside is the menus are all pretty much the same and a little bit limited but the food was good. Overall we had a wonderful stay and would definitely recommend it.

Great property, cleaners excellent and so thorough, air con great which is a good thing as boiling, lovely house and beautiful pool, allotment provided tomatoes, strawberries, onions and fresh eggs every day! The three local tavernas we walked to ( within 10 mins) were all fabulous as so reasonable... a great time had by all!

Beautiful villa

Very luxury villa with all needed facilities. Good contact with the owner who is very helpfull. Outside is also pretty. Swimming pool and pool house with bbq are great. Sun beds are very good. Inside the house enough space, different places to sit and relax. We enjoyed our stay a lot.

Mooie villa en goed ingericht. Fijn zwembad met ligstoelen. Bbq buiten. Boven min of meer apart deel voor ouders met kleine kinderen. Kippen in hok, waarvan bijna iedere dag 1 of 2 eieren geraapt mogen worden. Op loopafstand van leuke taverne in Roussispiti. 10 minuten met de auto naar Rethymno (gezellige toeristische plaats met oud centrum.) Sanitair schoon, maar enigszins gedateerd, evenals fitness apparatuur. Erg leuke plek om te verblijven voor redelijke prijs!!

Superb Villa - Villa Saridakis

We had a lovely stay at Villa Saridakis. Maria was incredibly hospitable. Delightfully friendly and warming with her welcome and gifts. The Villa was wonderful and clean and incredibly homely with the pool cleaned regularly. We had our towls and the villa cleaned half way through our holiday, which was lovely! and a treat! The cleaner, her name sadly I can't remember but, she was truly lovely and very warming too. We befriended a lovely cat who stayed with us for the week. The two Tavernas were great - walking distance and served super local wine and food and travelling to town Rethymon for dinner was lovely too. Many, many thanks Maria for a really lovely superb Villa. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would definately come again. Efkharisto para poli Ya khara, Adio! i agapi apo Warwick's xxx

Beautiful villa in beautiful surroundings

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Villa Saridakis. We were a party of 9 (4 adults and 5 kids) and the villa was perfect for our needs. The kids loved the pool area and the adults had plenty of outdoor space to relax in. Maria, our host, was very kind and helpful, including buying some groceries for us on arrival. The villa was well equipped with everything you would need to make our stay comfortable. The surrounding village is nice and quiet with 3 tavernas and a mini market all within walking distance. The large town of Rethmynon is only 10 minute drive away which has restaurants and bars and shops and a nice harbour. I would thoroughly recommend staying at this villa and is perfect for a relaxing family holiday.

A dream holiday

I can't say enough good things about Villa Saridakis, the owner Maria, the agent Think Villa, or HomeAway! When we had chosen the villa, we contacted the agent Think Villa & I was so impressed with their customer service. But it was beyond that - I asked them all sorts of odd questions before we arrived as we were two families with "children" from 10 months to their 20's, & their service just could not have been better, even as far as suggestions for taxi transfers, restaurants & sight seeing. When we arrived at Villa Saridakis we were greeted by Maria (the owner) & her husband despite having been delayed until 2am. She was so welcoming. She gave us the tour & had even left us some food and drink to make sure we settled in. The next morning we explored & it is just bliss! A beautiful, modern villa. We were 9 adults & a baby & had plenty of room with a bed to spare. We used the ground floor double room for us & the baby (in a cot supplied by Maria) so we could sit by the pool while the baby napped inside - perfect! The other (twin) room on the ground floor doesn't have aircon but does have a fan & worked well for us. We made full use of the gym, table tennis and bikes provided (some of the group cycled to the top of the mountain behind the villa). The owners came everyday to tend to the chickens & vegetable garden, & kindly left us the eggs & vegetables by the door each morning. There's a gorgeous cat that we loved to feed even though he is fed everyday by the owners - he'll stay away or play depending on you. The children's play area was brilliant for the baby, & the small children's pool is great for little ones to splash about in. We cooked in the well equipped kitchen quite regularly, & used the TV with an Apple TV box that we brought with us. The beds were very comfortable & the aircon is efficient - both those things can make a big difference to your holiday! We didn't have a car. It would be handy, but you don't HAVE to have one. We pushed the buggy to and from the village shop & tavernas which are lovely & good value. We bought a shopping trolley to make it easier coming up the hill & left it at the villa for the next guests - you will need to be fairly fit for that. We took the Rethymno Tour Bus from the village (every 2 hrs) to the town & enjoyed the ride (€2.80). We called taxis for everything else - about €12-15 to Rethymno centre. The views are gorgeous with the sea on one side & the mountains on the other. Bliss!

Beautiful place

We have just come back from this villa where we were staying for 10 days. The Villa itself is absolutely beautiful and perfect for adults as well as the children. The facilities are great and the owner of the property was more than happy to help with any special requirements we've had. She has even brought some food to welcome us with on our first day. We would definitely come back. Thank you!
