Fabulous location and host!

We spent a long weekend here as two families of 4 and had plenty of space & a great time! The owner was super-responsive, helpful and generous. We enjoyed the kayaks and catching our own crabs! We appreciated how well-stocked the kitchen was with spices and equipment. The kids had their own space to sleep and play in the basement, which worked out perfectly! Loved this house!

Delightful House

Came with a few friends for a charter fishing trip, and the house had all the amenities described. The house really excelled when it came to cooking and eating: plenty of pots and pans, grill tools, and dishware. It was a bit difficult to figure out which dock belonged to the house, but after a little effort we were kayaking away. Two things for future visitors: it is a little difficult to use both trundle beds in the basement at the same time, and you'll need to bring a few extra towels as the house doesn't have many. Overall a great place to relax!

Not happy

House was not clean. The outdoor kitchen was a mess, we did not use it. Very disappointed. From the write up with a 5 premier rating. I expected a very clean and well maintained house.

Awesome for Waterfront Vacation

The property was clean. Furnishings were in good condition. The location is remote but there are stores close enough to get whatever you need. Good location for kayaks and I brought my own boat to the dock. Fishing was great aa was crabbing from the dock.

Great getaway!

We had plenty to do in and around the house. Especially enjoyed the gazebo and kayaks. So much wildlife - herons, crabs, jellyfish, ospreys, cormorants, gulls, songbirds - I could go on. Especially recommend mid-week when Hughlett Point is less crowded.

Spacious Home on Nice Property

Great house for a family vacation

House is spacious, nice location on the water, quiet area. Had some cold weather so we enjoyed the indoor game room. Kitchen is well equipped. We enjoyed our stay. Could use an extra desk in the bedrooms, for the laptops.

Nice Pet-friendly house in quiet location

We had a great time at Allison's place and she was a wonderful host, responded very quickly to all messages and suggestions. The house is located in a quiet neighborood which we found to be very peaceful. Just keep in mind that except for the local gas station and general store you do need to travel about 15+ minutes to a grocery store. The house was well-stocked from a kitchen perspective and did include extra blankets and pillowsas well as some books and board games. We all enojoyed the game room, kayaks and crab traps (we tried...). Beds were comfy and showers had good water pressure. We had 4 kids downstairs in the game room and it worked out great. No issues with Wifi and/or Netflix. We had 2 dogs and they loved swimming. Having an outdoor deck to contain them while they dried off was also a plus. Overall would recommend.

Beautiful Riverside Home!

My family and I really enjoyed our stay at the river. It's a lovely well-maintained house with everything you need for a relaxing vacation. Allison was very easy to reach and provided lots of suggestions for activities. The kitchen was well stocked with plenty of cookware and basics, including a wine/beer fridge. We loved spending time on the dock and kayaking in the river. There are several fishing poles and crab pots which were fun to check each day even though we never caught anything bigger than a golf ball. We loved roasting marshmallows in the fire pit and watching the sunrise from the deck. Even with a full week rental I didnt get a chance to take full advantage of all the amenities I had planned to so I hope we can stay here again! A few minor inconveniences: there is only one rack in the oven so cooking a Thanksgiving dinner took a little longer doing one dish at a time. The internet router is shared with the house next door so if it goes out your neighbors also lose WiFi. We couldn't find a pump for the bike tires so only one was usable. Note that the road to the house is gravel but is relatively easy to walk/bike on, it's nearly a mile to the main paved road. The dock is shared with the neighboring house so you may encounter other vacationers but we didn't have any problems with it. We brought our own FireTV stick because there isn't cable. For our group we would have preferred an extra full or queen bed in the basement but the twin day beds with trundles would be fine for 4 kids. The basement felt a little musty and dusty and we couldn't get the fireplace to work but we had a lot of fun with the pool table. Overall we had very few complaints!

Wonderful retreat!

Pandemic. Election. Stressful jobs. We needed to get away for awhile and this peaceful waterfront property was prefect. The main floor is particularly stunning with an open floor plan, huge windows, cathedral ceilings and a well equipped modern kitchen (we especially appreciated the gas stove and the wine cooler). Although we didn't take out the kayaks, we enjoyed lots of time on the dock, had lunch in the gazebo, and took walks down the quiet gravel road each morning. The Fall colors were beautiful. The area is secluded and peaceful and within 30 minutes of wonderful hiking (loved Hughlett Point), quaint towns and friendly wineries. Fine dining (outdoors or in) at Chesapeake Restaurant at the Tides Resort in Irvington was a fun change of pace. Allison was very responsive and helpful. We highly recommend this property for rest and rejuvenation!

Lovely Relaxing Visit

We have not been to the Northern Neck of Virginia before and found it to be very relaxing and lovely. The water was perfect to paddleboard on and no one was around us during the pandemic. The perfect place to just get away.

Much needed relaxation

What a great escape from the hustle and bustle of DC! We found the home to be perfect for our needs. Hey- a weekend where my kids don’t have phones or video games AND they still want to stay?!?! I’ll say that’s a win. The home was well stocked and spacious. We felt right at home. We spent our days kayaking, crabbing and fishing. We spent our nights playing pool in the game room. I never heard the words, “I’m bored.” Allison provided us a couple of restaurant recommendations that were spot on. We loved the Crusty Crab and Horn Harbor. Also, give Lead Belly’s a shot. Great food and the locals treated us as such. Mr. Burns(the gentlemen who takes care of the property) is just a GEM of a human. He was available to help us if we had any questions or concerns. I’d rate this stay an A+. The only downside is that we didn’t book longer. Thanks Allison!!

Reedville River House

Pretty nice house with some quirkiness like odd placement of light switches but once you figure it out it's quite nice. The kitchen isn't as well furnished as I would have liked, no strainer for instance and good luck finding a lid that matches a pan but we made it work. The listing could be a bit more accurate like noting that the paddle boal leaks but overall we rented the place to get a change of scenery and relax in a different environment and this worked well for us.

Great get-a-way when honeymoon was postponed
