The property is beautiful. The cabins are beautiful. Everything was great, until we left a day early.
We rented the cabin until Monday morning, but because of school happening, we had to leave Sunday morning to be back home on time. As we were loading up the cat to leave, one of the steps of the deck broke. There was a knot in the middle of the step, and that's precisely where it broke. We had to keep going, so we finished packing up and left. We had the cabin rented until Monday morning anyway, so I waited to get down the road and get the kids situated before I messaged Jen. She texted me in the meantime.
"We are not only the owners of the cabin, but we built the cabins so we know how strong and sturdy our porches are, and buildings are. We clean after each guest so we know how clean and maintenance the cabin was before you came. Your complete disrespect for our property is unacceptable and you are not allowed to come back to our property."
So I texted her back.
"Excuse me? Yes, the step broke this morning while we were loading up our car. It broke right on a knot. I took pictures of it so we could let you know. The knob on the bathroom window was broken when we got there. I have pictures of that too. We respected your property. Before we left, I washed dishes, cleaned the counters, cleaned the bathroom, put all the bedding on the pile, put all the towels on a pile trying to make it easier for you. So what exactly did we do to disrespect your property?" Never got a reply.
