    This pocket neighborhood of mill houses within Old North Durham was originally built for the workers of the Pearl Mill on Ellerbee Creek. Though only ruins of the Mill remain, the creek has been transformed into a peaceful 1 mile nature trail - the start is just down the block on Trinity Ave. To the north we’re bordered by the future Durham Rail Trail, so nature abounds!
    However, you are less than half a mile to the center of downtown Durham and you’ll have easy access to everything that makes the city special:

    There is parking for 3 cars available in the driveway, and free street parking (please be courteous of the neighbors driveways!)

    Feeling the need to get outside and move? You’re 1 block to the Ellerbee Creek Nature Trail & 17 Acre Wood, and 0.7 miles from Duke’s East Campus with its 1.75mi gravel loop.     As you plan your travel to, from and around the Triangle, some helpful distances:
    RDU Airport is 15 miles (about 20-25 minutes) away
    Durham Amtrak, Bus Station and MegaBus pick up are 1 mile away
    NC-147 and access to I-85 & I-40 are
    It’s easy to get to Raleigh (25mi), Chapel Hill (9mi), or RTP (10mi) with a car, cab or Lyft/Uber.


    A few things worth knowing -- we share these not as a warning but because guests who know what to expect tend to have the best stays.

    Dogs and cats are welcome with a registered pet reservation and a pet fee. Up to 2 pets maximum. A portion of the yard is fenced.

    This home is equipped with kids' plates and is family-ready. Please note it is not child-proofed.

    The charcoal grill is available for use and sits just outside the screened porch.

    Please keep food waste out of the kitchen drain and avoid flushing anything other than toilet paper.

Duke Graduation Visit

The house was perfect. We had five people, but six would fit comfortably. It was bright and clean and well appointed. Really could not have been much better. And, in a long weekend full of activities, it was great to have a home base that was so close to everything.

We had a great week visiting Durham, NC. The house was perfect for our needs; central to do just about anything. Grocery shops, restaurants, the University, Duke Gardens and several close-by dog parks. This property was pet friendly. If one thing could be improved on a bit: I wish the water pressure at the kitchen sink was stronger. Emily was great to work with.

Simply wonderful

What a pleasure to stay in this historic mill house, beautifully updated with a gorgeous kitchen and bathrooms. We walked on the Greenway every day, even in the blazing heat. We also walked through the nearby neighborhoods. We could see downtown Durham on the skyscape; we were just minutes away.

A little to modern…..

Nice kitchen that was well stocked. Comfortable beds. VERY uncomfortable living room furniture and low quality, older linens in king and queen bedroom. Lack of art on the wall makes the house feel unfinished in furnishings.
