Welcome to the Elk House! 4 Private Acres/Close to Hiking and Lake Quinault!

  • The Elk House is the Quinault Rain Forest's best kept secret and we are back in business! This 2 bedroom, 2 bath open-concept home was built in 2006 and sits on 4 acres of private land for you to enjoy and explore. It's hard to decide where the yard ends and nature begins. Barbeque on the 280 sq. ft. covered porch and watch for Roosevelt Elk that often graze in the front field, sometimes as close as 30 feet from the house! Get cozy next to the gas fireplace under 17 foot vaulted ceilings and watch for bald eagle, black-tail deer and great blue heron--regular visitors of the property. Enjoy the outdoor fire pit area and stargaze on clear summer nights. Explore nearby Zeigler Creek, picnic under a giant Maple tree and take leisurely walks around the property. The Elk House property is tranquility at it's best!

    If you want to venture out, drive, bike or walk the South Shore Road and discover nearby hiking trails, explore the World's Largest Spruce Tree, visit the famous glacier-fed Lake Quinault, or jump in your car or take a guided tour of the 31 mile loop drive into the Olympic National Park to see spectacular waterfalls, giant evergreen trees and wildlife. Whether you are here to experience outdoor recreation or just get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life, the Elk House is the perfect place for you to rest and rejuvenate.

    While staying at the Elk House you will enjoy all the comforts of home. A fully functional kitchen with double convection oven and gas cook top, full-size built-in microwave, dishwasher and refrigerator allows you to enjoy family dining in a private and pristine setting. The open-concept kitchen/dining room/living room creates a family atmosphere that can't be beat! Take refuge in the 350 sq. ft. open loft with a large picture window or in the private suite on the main floor.

    The Elk House was built with the outdoor enthusiast and family in mind. Everywhere you look, nature abounds. Make your next memory in Lake Quinault at the Elk House!

Beautiful getaway

Wonderful stay with excellent amenities; it was a real treat to be on the property and so close to Lake Quinault. I would have liked the online listing to have included the large chore list (ie starting laundry, stripping the beds of linens, taking out the trash) that needed to be done on the day of departure.

The house is spacious and well appointed. The highlight was the Elks arriving at dusk to feed. There were close to 30! The Lake Quinalt area is quiet and not overrun with people.

Secluded house with a view

We loved all the hikes that are within 10 minutes from the house in Olympic National Forest. There were a few kid toys for the littles and the kitchen was well equipped. The view of the mountains was lovely and we were visited by black tail deer and an elk herd.

Beyond Expectations

Beautiful stay. Pictures do not do it justice. We loved the property and home and wish we could have stayed one more night. Didnt see any Elk, but that was fine, because we just enjoyed the comfort of the home.

Lovely Home

Even nicer than it looked online. Very private, large yard. Very comfortable for two couples. It would have been nice to have tables or luggage racks in the loft, since we only stayed a few days, we didn't want to unpack, even though there is lots of closet space. We would stay there again.

Peaceful retreat

We really enjoyed the incredible views and comfortable space at the Elk House! Wish we would have gotten to see some elk but loved the yard nonetheless. Very quick access to the Quinalt area activities. Ample kitchen space and comfortable beds. The home needs smoke detectors installed and could use some blinds upstairs, but otherwise we have no complaints!

Beautiful peaceful stay

Picturesque well maintained property in a quiet location with a lot to do around. We loved coming back and relaxing after hiking around the area- which has a lot of options which are all uncrowded and lovely. Was perfect for our family of 5. Internet service was plenty fast even for streaming. No cell signal on Verizon but you can drive 2 miles down the road if you need it.

Great location

This is a very nice cabin in the woods, near hiking and biking. The only issue was the fact that the dishwasher is still not functioning.

Convenient location, comfortable home

Nice house located in a field, off the beaten path of Quinault. Peaceful and quiet. Enjoyed sitting on the porch. Saw the herd of elk early one morning. The TV and dishwater were not working.

Appropriately named

We saw a herd of 15 elk on the morning of our departure. What a treat! The place is perfect for a small family or 2 couples. It’s out away from traffic and noise. The tv is a large screen set with Direct Tv channels. My only suggestion is that the grill is in need of upgrading. We used it anyway but it’s showing it’s age and usage. This is our second time here and we’d return again as it’s near some of our favorite hikes.

My family was very happy with our stay at the Elk House. I understand why this location has such high reviews. The home was spotlessly clean, comfortable, attractive, and was in a quiet, relaxing location. I wish that we had seen elk during our stay, but it was still nice to sit on the front porch to enjoy the view. (Be forewarned that the large field surrounding has many slugs lying in the damp grass in the early morning.)There is a master bedroom on the main floor that has a queen bed. There is an open loft upstairs that had a queen bed and a twin day bed. The day bed also had a hideaway bed underneath that could be pulled out for a second twin bed. I had brought pots and pans for cooking which was unnecessary as the kitchen was very well supplied with anything we would need to fix and serve meals. We would love to return to stay at the Elk House again. Thanks!
