As good as the photos are - the actual view and location are much better. Sure, you can grab a hotel down in Queenstown (we did after our Milford Trek) but preferred this property to the hotel. We walked to downtown daily - an easy 10-15 minute walk - and most of the time took an Uber back. ($8 each trip)
I'm not sure which was better, morning coffee on the balcony as the sun lit up the mountains or the wine at night as the "southern lights" were nice enough to reflect purple hues upon the tops of the clouds. (we were lucky to see this).
It was misty, sunny, rainy and rainbows could be seen every few hours.
It's just a few hundred yards to several great hikes up in the hills overlooking Queenstown. After a mile or so hike, you can watch the planes take off or land from the airport and enjoy the fact that you are hundreds of feet above the planes as they descend into the valley airport.
Yes, you can stay at a hotel in downtown Queenstown and enjoy being next to the shopping and restaurants - or you can enjoy the extra space, the quiet, the views and the ability to lounge as you'd like on your balcony. I think the daily rate we paid was similar to our hotel, and when you add a couple of family members or friends with you, it's a far better deal.
Cant wait to get back.
