The pillars mark the position of an old railway bridge built in 1852 by Thomas Bouch who was made infamous in 1879 by the collapse of the Tay Railway Bridge which he also engineered. The railway was closed in 1969. The factory in the background is a paper mill operated by Curtis Fine Papers.

The Eden Estuary Local Nature Reserve. Viewed from the Eden Estuary Centre at Guardbridge, at low tide. There's often a Kingfisher perched on the post in the foreground. For a high tide view in better weather, see 724648. The buildings on the other side, out of the square, are part of RAF Leuchars.
